Description "FUR Animal Rescue, formerly Fur the Love of PAWS Rescue."
This is one of the most professionally run rescues I have experienced. I recently adopted a cat from them and from the application through to picking up the cat they were consistently communicative, informative and friendly. They worked around my schedule so I could pick the cat up at my convenience, and even sent her home with a goodie bag which included a hand crocheted blanket! I have worked in rescue in the past and only had dreams of being so organized and ambitious. The facility was spotless and I could tell every single one of those animals was loved. Tears were shed as my new kitty left with me, and I felt I’d met a kindred spirit in Jenn.
This place is the best place to rescue a cat. It’s like a feline Disneyland. Very passionate and caring people give their time and talents to make every cat know that they are loved and that they will find the perfect home for each one. I most definitely recommend this rescue!
You will not find anyone that is more kind and caring than Jenn and the volunteers at Fur. The first time I walked in that place I was impressed. They are all wonderful and are helpful in every way possible even after the adoption. They love what they do and they love those cats. The cats that they take in are ones that may never have a home of their own. When I adopted they were upfront about everything and still to this day a very important part of my cats life. I would highly recommend and would adopt from here again in a heartbeat if the occasion arises again.
Fur the Love of Paws is an excellent facility! I have adopted 2 cats from the organization. The staff pours their heart and soul into every animal they pull for rescue. Their job is to find the "BEST" not the easiest or quickest home. Many factors go into who gets approved. I'm sad to hear of the negative comments. Not everyone gets approved, there is a reason. These animals are often traumatized and need weeks or months to decompress. The staff spends countless hours learning each little personality and absolutely is selective on the type of person or home that animal goes to. Please be kind and patient, the purrfect rescue cat is out there for you! Rescue alumnis Shiva & Sidney😍
You could not rescue from a better place. The cats are truly pampered and loved and vetted to be the healthiest possible. Jenn selects her volunteers very carefully to make sure the cats are treated with love, and she is very selective on the homes that they go to.
After visiting the Fur the Love of PAWS Rescue facility in North Platte on 1/7 during the one hour they may or may not be open, and meeting Jenn face to face, all I can say is wow! I don't know if I've ever meet a more rude, unfriendly, judgmental, condescending person in my life. Here's how the process went. My retired parents who are in their early 70's are looking for a cat. When they saw Vixen on this site (via our FB account), they instantly fell in love with her young, high energy, playful nature. Having had many pets over the years, they thought she would be a great fit. Given the fact that my parents are not at all tech savvy, I volunteered to fill out the ridiculously long adoption application. That was submitted on Tues 1/4, and my parents did receive a conformation email. After that, they were left in limbo until I stopped in yesterday. Right away in could tell Jenn's people skills on a scale of 1 to 10 were a solid zero. I told her who I was and who my parents were, and told her that they had filled out an application for Vixen and were very excited to welcome her into their home. Her rude reply was "I told them to message me on FB several times!" I politely informed her that they do not have FB and are not great with computers. The next response I got from Jenn was "It doesn't matter anyway, due to your parents age and the age of their current cat, Vixen will not be happy with them!" Huh, age discriminate much? She then informed me that Vixen is very active and energetic and would be climbing the curtains and my parents cat would hate her. She basically made Vixen out to be a walking tornado! Funny, I witnessed Vixen playing as I walked up to the door and she acted like I would expect any young cat to act. She then informed me that Vixen needs a home with children and another young cat to play with. At this point I was so stunned and appalled by Jenn's treatment of me and judgement of my parents without even meeting or speaking to them, I was done with the conversation. Jenn then told me to keep an eye on her site and another cat more suited for my parents might come available. I politely said "Ok, Thank you" and left. Long story short, I wouldn't adopt an animal from this vile woman if she paid me to take it. I commend her for rescuing animals and finding them a good home. It's obvious to me that she cares about animals but not people. I'm not upset about not getting the cat, we'll find a cat no problem. The older I get, the less tolerance I have for rude, inconsiderate people. If you have had a positive experience adopting from Jenn, I'm glad. Mine was beyond negative. On a side note, apparently if your over the age of 70, you're not allowed to have a young cat.
