Description "Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center is the home of the City of Denton Animal Services."
Wonderful, clean place. We adopted our second cat from here, the staff is so kinda and care immensely for the animals and the people. Our recent adopted kitty Hazel is settling in nicely.
I’m a little dissatisfied by the service I received by the staff of this establishment. I’m from out of town. I found a stray dog at the athletic complex right next to this center. Multiple families including my self tried to call the line for a stray dog. They did not answer until I finally chose the option for a dangerous stray dog. By the time my family was ready to leave the dog catcher care drove by and then left, I called again to inform that the dog catcher just drove by. She said he would be back, but never came. Other families and dogs started to show up so I decided to just drop the dog off my self. When I showed up to the facility I obviously did not have a leash due to this dog being a stray. The receptionist came outside and yelled “your dog needs to be on a leash” I informed her this was not my dog, but I will put the leash she provided. The lady then proceeded to give me an ugly stare and rolled her eyes. While this is happening I have the dog catcher officer on the phone explaining to me that I do have to stay there to sign a paper saying this was a stray. He more the likely heard the conversation and the tone of this lady. I was just trying to help the poor starving pup out. I was not prepared to be treat as if I was a criminal by the receptionist. I am deeply saddened to say that if I ever see a stray dog again, I will not help. I did not deserve to be treated that way by the staff. I truly hope they don’t treat everyone that way
Our adoption was easy and quick! The staff was very helpful and answered all of our questions even as it got busier, and the lobby/pet areas were very clean. It’s our second time adopting from this center, and we would recommend to friends.
I adopted 2 cats from here last Wednesday, a kitten and a 12 year old. We separated the two cats just in case one was sick, and low and behold the kitten would start sneezing the day after we brought him home. I called up on Monday about getting meds or any kind of treatment for him, and was met with some reluctant passive agression. They offered to fill the meds and help treat our sweet kitty, or so I thought. The day of the phone call kitten was just a little sneezing a little more than normal and had discharge around his eyes. In the days following, the kitten started going down hill very very fast. We were assured to wait for the sanctuary to call us and that things would be fine, which resulted in having to spend almost $400 to put him down.. I get the shelter is closed on Wednesdays and holidays, but I feel wronged by them. 1. Adopting out a cat that was sick and not displaying any urgency while encouraging us to wait for treatement, and 2. for appearing completely disconnected, non sympathetic, or like they gave a da☆n that our kitten died as a direct result of things not getting taken care of. I love the good work by some of the people who work here, but I am never going back, I just can't trust this place here anymore. This was cold.
This facility is amazing. Crystal, Genaro and Ramon helped me care for a friends beloved dog that had found his way there after his human ended his battle with ptsd. They took tremendous care of Max during his time with them. They facilitated the kind and compassionate transfer of Max in coordination with the Denton Veterans Coalition, and I’m happy to say Max is in a loving home. The kindness that was extended to me from each of the staff members, specifically Genaro, Crystal and Ramon, is not something you see nowadays. May everyone come across a Genaro, a Crystal and a Ramon in their lifetime.
Family friendly place to adopt a new family member. Staff was friendly. Process was easy. Our dog was $60 and came microchipped with shots and surgery.
