Description "Critter Creek Farm Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 nonprofit in Gainesville, Florida, with the driving mission to promote compassion for farm animals through rescue, advocacy, and education."
For only a $5 donation (which goes to helping these deserving rescue animals) you can cuddle with some pigs, feed some cows, enjoy the beautiful trees that surround the farm, and (if it’s the first Sunday of the month) enjoy a farmers/craft market and food trucks! I loved it and will definitely be returning with friends.
Attended an open house event and was really pleased to see what these people are accomplishing. They rescue farm animals from misery and death and give them a compassionate forever home. When we were there, a lady had recently arrived from Northern California with a baby Water Buffalo. She drove 40 hours to save him from death. If you believe that animals are friends, not food, this place is for you. They hold events once a month with vendors and vegan food trucks. Check it out!
First and foremost, the driveway is not paved and if you are going to an event you may have to pull to the side to let the oncoming traffic through the road is not big enough for two way traffic. Second, it is recommended to wear boots or shoes you don't mind getting muddy/dusty and clothes for that matter. Third, take some bottled water with you and hand sanitizer and/or paper towels as the cows will lick the heck out of you if you pet and/or feed them. Have cash, the cell signal is spotty so some vendors may have issues. The only thing I do want to suggest is putting up bigger signs to show where parking is as i almost missed it and bigger signs to mark the exit getting out of the parking. Get there early for events if possible as it gets crowded quick.
This sanctuary is beautiful and staffed with kind and helpful faces. The animals are so lucky to have this huge place to call home. We visited for the market they hold here once a month. There were a variety of vegan vendors and we were lucky enough to see some of the cows, pigs and donkeys. Highly recommend!
When reading the previous reviews, I prepared for a mess of a place..... This was NOT the case at all! One lane drive way, yes. No mud, no mess, outside of it being a farm 🤷 the farmers mooket was awesome! Excellent vendors, super friendly staff, delicious food and good music. The only issue I saw was people bringing their dogs that they haven't trained- dogs that shouldn't be in public, barking at animals and other people. Other than that- it was clean, the rescue animals were taken care of and totally socialized- walking up to the fences and begging for scratches 🥰
We loved it here! The animals are so well taken care of. The Moo-Ket was soooo much fun! They have it every 1st Sunday of the month. The staff are super friendly! Highly recommend checking them out!
