Description Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary provides permanent high-quality sanctuary care for New World monkeys being retired from laboratory research, ex-pets, or monkeys who have been confiscated by the authorities. Jungle Friends is also committed to advocacy and education on behalf of all captive non-human primates, and to provide assistance to improve the circumstances of captive primates wherever possible. We work cooperatively with a national network of other credible animal sanctuaries, government agencies, other primate and animal protection organizations, and qualified individuals to find placement for unwanted monkeys and to combat the exploitation and mistreatment of captive primates.

Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary continues to become a more fulfilling experience each and every time I go! It is a sanctuary of care and compassion for monkeys who have either come from labs, have been former pets, or rescue monkeys needing a safe space and place to live out their lives. Spacious habitats provide for optimal care and healthy environments. There are countless volunteer opportunities; however I would highly recommend the tour for a starting point as it allows you to see the big picture of not only the many types of monkeys but the lush natural surroundings. What a treat I always look forward to with each return ! Dear Kari, You will never know how much this (& every visit) means to me at Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary! It is truly the most unique amazing experience on earth I love you & each &every one who makes this all happen on an every day basis~ That in itself is miraculous!!! I think of y'all every day as hearts are extended to give these sweet monkeys not only their lives back, but a life worth living in the future! ~ Til Next Time Lisa
Always enjoy visiting the monkeys, seeing how happy they are to be enjoying their almost wild environments. The staff (and volunteers) all work hard to provide for these primates, including continually providing enrichment to keep them from being bored. If you haven’t visited, you need to check it out!! Awesome!!!!
A must-do tour and an amazing operation to experience first-hand. Volunteer opportunities that won’t disappoint. Grateful for the staff and volunteers who led and guided the way along new paths, & for showing me monkey ropes I otherwise would never have known. Can’t wait to return ! I volunteered at Jungle Friends once like 5 years ago. I was asked to move some logs/sticks to a different area by the staff members, and in the middle of doing what I was asked, this old lady (I later she was the owner of the sanctuary, Kari Bagnall) yelled at me for not doing her laundry and questioned my intelligence. I did not come back after that.
Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary is a blessing to many monkeys who have suffered from scientific tests. They also have monkeys who were considered pets. If it wasn't for Kari and her love and devotion for these animals, many monkeys would not have a place to go, to live out their remaining years as happy and loved souls. Jungle Friends also gives the monkeys the care and treatment they need. Kari has made sure that she and her staff give back as much love, care and dignity as they can to the monkeys, which speaks volumes.
This was a terrible place to visit. Very Tiger King with a woman putting on a show with tears for donations. This is not how primates should live in a sanctuary. An employee said the cages are only cleaned a couple times a year when they move cages. There is feces everywhere and not just from marking. Even a zoo does better. Hundreds of monkeys screaming is not a pleasant experience.
