I had to take a dog in as it showed up to our home and unfortunately, could not keep her as we have our own dogs and figured the owners would locate her there. Initially the staff was helpful and provided information. The dog was very sweet and well mannered (knew sit and other basic commands), as well as, passed temperament testing. I offered to pay the adoption fee. I visited regularly and interacted with staff. I asked to be notified if there was risk for being euthanized due to being there too long and the kennel supervisor had agreed and assured they work with other rescues to place if the dog is not being adopted. Initially he would answer my calls and update me and eventually I started to be ignored. I was committed if euthanasia was going to be an issue to work harder to find an alternative placement for her individually. I found out this morning none of that happened and the dog was euthanized last week.

I got my puppy from Rio Rancho Animal Control back in 2021. The staff was incredibly kind, my dog had been returned by his previous owners and the lady that helped me was so empathetic and loving towards him. You can tell they really care and love their animals. The adoption process was incredibly easy!

I went there back in 2015 looking for my cat that had disappeared. I never found my beloved Nikki, but I did come across a lovely senior kitty by the name of Alice. I adopted Alice and she was a faithful companion up until a few months ago when illness sent her across the rainbow bridge. I remember everyone being kind, helpful, and just a pleasant experience all around. When my heart heals a little more, I’ll be back for another loving companion.

Animal control came to get a dog who has been chasing walkers and neighbors. After the driver saw the dog chasing a walker. The driver stopped looked right at the dog they were called about. Backed up amd drove off. Did not even attemp to collect the animal. Upon calling about this. The person who answered the phone stated i dont know what is going on. I was also not the driver. This os obvious as u are at the office and not a driver. This ofcourse causes frustration to the tax payer. Office hung up after stating it was not me so no need to yell or be upset. Well aware not him. But you represent the office and city when you pick up the phone. What a waste of tax payer dollars.

The people working here were very knowledgeable! We mentioned to them what we were looking for in a dog and they were able to help! They also have a spot where you can have a “meet and greet.” Highly recommend!
