Description Watermelon Mountain Ranch is New Mexico's largest no-kill animal shelter, having found homes for over 150,000 dogs and cats since we started in 1996. We are a network partner of Best Friends Animal Society and travel across the southwest rescuing animals on high-kill shelter euthanasia lists. We recently adopted a beautiful adult dog from the Watermelon Mtn Ranch in RR. The entire staff were so friendly and professional. We are so happy with our new family member, she has filled our hearts and home with so much love and joy. Compassionate, caring, no kill shelter. The staff are all wonderful. We adopted our two year old, blue eyed, beautiful cat from Watermelon Ranch. We couldn’t be happier (and Zoe Zia couldn’t be happier either)!

Very nice people there. We dropped off a large bag of cat food. Then a lady walked us through the cat housing area so we could visit the kitties. We weren't there to adopt at this time, but it was a nice visit.

Found a dog todsy and this was the place that had reviews that would take strays and would find these pets an adoption home. They boast that they are a no kill shelter, they checked to see if it the dog was chipped and it wasn't. But they still wouldn't take the dog. They really don't know who to call to get dogs picked up. They gave me a # but had to call 4 different places and it ended up being the sheriff's dept that has reviews that is a kill shelter. Watermelon ranch just passed the buck which boasts that they rescue as many animals for their image. Guessing that they will only take them if you give them a $ donation.
