I am giving PCAPS a one star due to the following. I adopted a cat from them in Oct or Nov of last year I can't remember. But I am someone who takes pet ownership very seriously and read through the adoption contract and adhere to their rules in order to keep my cat. Well she desperately wants to be outside any chance she can get and I do walk her when I can. Last night while taking out my trash she bolted between my legs and went outside. Soon after she was chased by dogs up a tree and I was unable to reach her to get her out of danger. I called the non emergency number and they sent my request for help out to animal control. When they finally called me I was told that they would not assist me in any way and if I did my job as a pet parent she never would have gotten out in the first place and to figure it out for my self.
This place is horrible and very cruel to the animals they take on. They will lie and say the animal will get rehomed and then turn around and kill them because they were "mean". Paws didn't even give them the proper 2 week hold to see if they would be rehomed. I told them to call me if they did not get rehomed within those 2 weeks. Never received a call. I would've found them a permanent home if I would've known that Paws was so quick to kill. They were good cats that deserved love and a good home. If you do find any animals don't bring them here.
WARNING BEFORE YOU ADOPT HERE They sent our cat to another shelter after we were told “he was ours” and given a pickup date. Me and my boyfriend went there Saturday 31st. As soon as we went to the cat room we were greeted by volunteer. I don’t know her name but she was older short gray hair. I could tell right away she didn’t like us very much because she was rude. We feel in love with Randall, one of the cats and asked to adopt him. They gave us this card pictured below and told us he needed to be neutered but then we could pick him up on the 4th, today. Today my boyfriend called just to double check it would be ok I picked him up and that’s when they told him Randall was sent to another shelter. The volunteer never put us down for the adoption even though she’s the one who helped us. We did everything right, our application was approved. Don’t shelters Want animals to find good homes? Not this one!!!!!!! Now we have to try and adopt him from another shelter. He has to spent more time alone without a family.
Becky the Director of PCAPS was very helpful to give info about an attack on my pet and the outcome of the Animal Control capture of the pit bulls that attacked 4 people and 3 dogs. I was a victim of owners who train their dogs to kill and their dogs were not vaccinated and were running free. I will take Becky's advise and wait.
We called in Animal Control for them to pick up a bat in our house. The person who came barely went in, looked in the foyer and said she couldn't find it. I told her we could look in the laundry area and the second floor, to which she replied "it's not my job", turned around and left. I'll be reporting this further.
I went to PAWS to potentially adopt a dog on Monday 12-4-23. I found a puppy I liked (a yellow lab pup named Randy), but wanted to think about it, as it's a big decision. I filled out an app, told them I wanted to think about it and left. On Tuesday 12-5-23, I called at 9:15 am and said I wanted the dog. The lady on the phone got my name and said my app had been approved and they would reserve the dog for me. I arranged to pick him up today, Wednesday 12-6-23 at 11 am. When I went to pick up the dog, they said he had been adopted. Not sure how that happened, but I'm very disappointed.
