Took in my 1 year old pup after being hit by a car night of super bowl 2024. They took her in and I didnt hear about her for 2 hours. Finally, doctor took us in a room, showed us nothing, just told us all these things that were wrong with her. I have taken 2 of my previous dogs there before and both times they had screwed us over. It was my only option at 10pm at night though. They told me she had fluids in her and a broken hip. Due to the times they screwed me over in the past, I took the chance of not believing them, and I took my pup home and prayed all night. After telling them im taking my pup home and im not paying them an extra 800 dollars to nurse her there overnight, they continued to tell me how my pup is gonna go home and suffer and die. Told me that word for word. Made me feel terrible about it. They also offered to go ahead and euthanize her for an additional 700 dollars. I said no thankyou im taking my dog home. Docter continues to basically throw my dog back into my arms, says not a single word, slams the door in my face as she walks out of the room. And that was described with no exaggeration. After taking her home and praying all night, she made it through the night. Very first thing next morning took her to a different emergency pet hospital. Ran scans on her again, unlike UF they sat down with us and showed us every x-ray and scan they took on her. Showed us there was 0 fluids in her and how her hip was just fine. She does have a minor fracture in a joint that connects to her hip but nothing like UF made it sound. Also unlike UF, they gave her antibiotics, pain killers, and anti-inflammatory medications, wrapped her leg where she had gashes, and treated her and us with much more care and respect then UF for less then half of what we payed UF. 1200$ to UF for them to lie and help my puppy in no way. Now, more then a week later, my puppy is improving great. She is doing very well, eating fine and drinking lots of water. Her blatter and butt are working great not any signs of something wrong. UF doesnt care about you and your pets, they only care about that dollar!! Never will I trust that place! Im sure im forgetting to mention something. (pictures linked are from today now more then a week after accident)

Wednesday night I took my 10 year old cattle dog mix Rosie to UF in Ocala. She has a terminal cancer tumor in her bladder that was diagnosed two weeks before by UF in Gainesville and was given six months to live without radiation and chemotherapy. She could maybe get a year with those interventions. you wouldn’t know by looking at her because she’s very fit and very active. Unfortunately Wednesday night 5-22-24 she had bloody diarrhea that seemed to come out of nowhere and she had thrown up dog food up a couple times. I am 99% sure she did not get into anything that day so I was shocked. The diarrhea was very bad (all blood) so I took her to UF in Ocala. I thought this was it. I thought it was the cancer and it spread or the tumor ruptured and this was it. On my way there, I got stuck on 75 for over an hour and a half behind a major accident. When I finally arrived around 11:30 PM I saw Dr. Amanda Inman and she told me it was unlikely it had anything to do with Rosie’s cancer and that it was a separate issue. Possibly a side effect of the piroxicam she was on for her tumor. They needed to do bloodwork and x-rays to narrow down what was going on. They did the bloodwork, and then Dr. Inman came out and told me that they were leaning towards HGE. I’ve never heard of HGE and I’m surprised I hadn’t. They said they needed to keep her overnight and give her IV fluids because she could get dehydrated very quickly. My experience with Dr Inman and the technician that night was excellent. The girl behind the counter at the reception desk was just OK. Dr. Inman said that she didn’t know if Rosie would need just one night or several nights. So I left Rosie there and at 6 AM the next morning I called to find out if Rosie had to stay longer. The person who answered the phone gave the call to a male Doctor who said you have questions about your dog in a very rude manner. I said I was just calling to find out if I am picking her up this morning or if she is needs to stay longer? He proceeded to ramble on in medical terms with a nasty attitude and said that she improved and that she could go home. The bottom line was yes I was supposed to pick up my dog they close at 8 am and kick their patients out by 745, I didn’t know that. 10 years ago I had a dog with pancreatitis that stayed there for several days so this was news to me. I picked Rosie up and I took her home. She was not better. I followed their instructions and gave her a little bit of the food provided and the medication prior as instructed. She proceeded to defecate large pools of blood on the floor again shortly after. I rushed her to my regular vet who was now open. they took care of Rosie all day but she needed overnight care. So I took her back to UF in Ocala for continued IV fluids and monitoring overnight. When I got there, I walked in and started speaking to the young woman at the reception desk, who is standing with another woman who is older than her, and they were taking my information. Then some brunette young woman with a silver stud in her face who was sitting behind them on the computer butted in on the conversation with a shitty attitude. The shitty attitude continued in the form of condescension. I asked her if something was wrong because I felt uncomfortable by our interaction she said no. The condescension continued after every question I answered of hers. I told her I didn’t feel comfortable and to give me the folder back from my vet with all the information in it and that I would go somewhere else and I left. I was completely exhausted from lack of sleep, and I had no fight in me to deal with with her bullshit at the time. I will never go back to this place ever again. I don’t know who’s running this operation but I had just gotten there so I don’t know what their problem was but it obviously had nothing to do with me because right out of the gate she was just as shitty as that male doctor earlier that morning. If you’re overworked and underpaid, speak up for yourself it’s not my problem, I paid my bill without question.

Teddy had a belly ache and our normal vet was closing, he said I should bring T to UF Pets to get some hydration and perhaps be watched overnight. It was a BUSY night with many dogs who looked far worse than T, so I knew there would be a wait. They offered to have him stay overnight, but I requested to get him his fluids and come home to watch him. The tech explained what to look for when I got home and what would signify that he should be brought back immediately. They explained why some tests my vet thought they might do wouldn't necessarily give them more useful info at this stage and saved me time and money there. T got his fluids, came home and was back to happy within a day. I can't imagine it's the easiest job, emergency, overnight, lots of tears from scared pet-parents. But they treated me and teddy with compassion and care. In the end our stay was several hours (again, they were really busy) but it was only a $60 bill and T was taken care of and cuddled. So I couldn't be happier.

From the front desk clerk Camilla to Chelsea and Dr Amanda, the visit was much better than the drama in the reviews we read. Compassion, kindness, empathy, great customer service skills, and a sense of humor for a lighthearted Army veteran like myself. Over 40 years experience with veterinary care for the fuzzy kids, I can tell you we will come here again and would recommend it. BTW, you choose the services and bill you want. We did basic exam, blood work, sedation for X-rays and the X-rays with a bill under $800. Considering the fact ours is the fierce Pomeranian Chihuahua mix, the care was better than most and not much more than a yearly regular vet visit in cost (~$630)! Us humans don't have this good and cheap!!!

This place killed my kitten! I think if I had driven Dolly to the Bansfield Vet Clinic in Gainesville on Saturday, she would still be alive. Instead, when I saw that Bansfield in Ocala was closed on the weekends, I took her to the UF Pet Emergency Treatment Center in Ocala. I believe they were so busy and so short staffed that they just put her in a backroom somewhere for 6 hours. I believe bc Dolly wasn't actively having a seizure or bleeding out, she was triaged to a back corner and ignored. Six hours and almost a thousand dollars later, they said her labs were good and they felt it was a simple GI upset....and recommended I take her home and if she wasn't better by tomorrow, to bring her back. When I got back home with a very sick cat, the paper they gave me stated that I went against recommendation to have them run more tests. I believe if they were too busy and too short staffed to help, they should have sent me on my way so I could take her somewhere else. Lastly, I believe that because of UF Pet Emergency Treatment Center of Ocala, I had to bring Dolly home the next day in a box. And that's all I'm going to say about that. Ok...one more thing..The money they make off of scared pet parents should be able to keep the damn place well staffed. And THAT'S all I'm going to say about that. Take your animal to Bansfield or ANYWHERE instead of UF Pet Emergency Center of Ocala. Do it for Dolly.

Took my dog there at 1030 pm for a suspected stroke or seizure. The staff (except for Dr Amanda and her trainee) were very condescending. We got there and there were only 2 other folks there so we thought ok should only be a few hrs. Took then 1hr 45 min to take us in a room and get info on our dog and after doing so was told they would do blood work and I agreed. We went back to the waiting room - which was disgusting. Blood and pet hair, mud and pet urine all over the floor. In the 6 hrs we were there not one person came out to mop the floor. We have been to Blue Pearl in Gainesville and they come out and clean the floors regularly!!! Eeew. Anyway several emergencies came in and sadly we witnessed 3 dogs and one cat be rolled out in boxes. We finally got out at 5 am with absolutely no answer on what happened to our dog. 400.00 for nothing. Taking him to our vet tomorrow and in the future we will take the drive to Blue Pearl in Gainesville. We probably would have gotten out earlier and with answers!!! Don’t go here, it is unsanitary, you will waste time and money and they are quick to put animals down.
