Sadly, there were only two moments in my itinerant life that I used the services of this vet clinic. But this was the best vet I've ever had. I wish I'd had care like this throughout the long life of my best friend. For that final moment of sudden illness that turned out to be irreversible, Dr. Rosen was incredibly patient throughout the diagnostic and treatment process; thorough, non-judgmental, and financially understanding as we discussed options; and kind and clear when she had to deliver the most difficult news a vet can offer. Dr. Graham gave my friend the most beautiful, peaceful, emotionally rich end a stranger could have done (relative stranger, anyway: he had also been present for some of the treatment, he revealed, which was a nice touch). I was nervous about choosing a vet on Newbury St of all places. I'm not super wealthy, and in fact I have struggled to make rent during my time in the Boston area. But this clinic is relatively affordable (!!!) compared to others in the area including for regular checkups like my first visit. More importantly, I found every single doctor and staff member much more understanding, helpful, and generous about my financial situation than most of the professionals I've worked with in less fancy locations in less expensive states. TL;DR for any possible reason, you probably want this place to be your vet clinic anchor for your beloved creature.

It was our first time in a vet clinic in the US and everything went fine. Our doctor had no trouble navigating our dog's EU passport and getting all info required to take care of him. The whole team was very friendly and reassuring ! Rio almost had a great time (it was still a visit to the vet so we understand his mixed feelings).

I was a client of BBV for 7 years, with two dogs, 7 and 5 years old. First off, the quality of the vets is second to none. We loved Dr Graham, he is an amazing doctor, and we fully trusted everyone there with taking care of our dogs with no worry. Is it insanely expensive? Yes, but that’s what you get with a vet on Newbury St. We loved BBV for years…. however, since COVID, the level of service has plummeted. Before, if our dog was sick or needed a quick check, we could get in within a day or two- now, it’s impossible to schedule something within the same week. Before, you could call with questions and have a doctor call back with answers within an hour- now, you’ll never get a call back, if you’re lucky you’ll get a text the same day telling you to go see an emergency vet. We left BBV after one of our dogs was sick, I couldn’t get an appointment, ended up in emergency care, and he was diagnosed with lepto. The emergency care team instructed us to get our other dog tested for lepto immediately, because it can be life threatening if not treated. They told us our primary vet would treat the case seriously enough to get us in right away. BBV told us they had no available appointments for over a week, were short staffed, and could not help us. After seven years and thousands of dollars spent with them, they could not get our second dog in for a simple technician blood test to check for a life threatening disease. I asked for a doctor to call us back, which didn’t happen. It was only after I contacted another vet, who then called BBV asking for our dogs’ medical records, did BBV call us back and suddenly “a spot opened up”. Great doctors. Outrageously expensive, but understandably so given the location. But with the price tag, you should expect a quality of service well beyond what BBV is able to provide at this time.

This clinic is AMAZING. My partner and I have brought our young cat here for almost 2 years and recently we welcomed a senior cat into our home. Even after we were unable to gather previous vet records, they were so willing to guide us to the best path of care for our old lady. They are very clear with what documents and forms need to filled out and how appointments are communicated. Between text, emails, PetDesk, and calls, it is SO EASY to have my cats taken care of. While in the exam rooms, you are there with real humans willing to discuss any concerns and offer any advice. We have been there for annual visits, tech visits, and emergency(ish) visits. They pass no judgement (even when it can be embarrassing to say you don’t brush their teeth every night) and they don’t push products or procedures/testing. They make sure you are informed and are very understanding if you decline a service. It is relieving to know I have Back Bay Vet Clinic and all their staff to make sure we are doing what’s right for our animals.

Dr. Campbell performed my dog's (Lady) dental surgery last week. I was impressed from start to finish. I was updated on every step of the process and trusted everyone that cared so well for her. She recovered quickly and her dental work looks fantastic. While it was quite expensive, it was worth every penny to know my dog was being cared for adequately. Highly recommend this vet! :)
