I take the Z-Trans to get to work. I was walking down Filmore Avenue to get to work at Chaparral Middle School. I informed them about a dog who tried to attack me—twice. I had to call three times to see if anyone followed up. Nobody even bothered calling me back. When I explained how upset and stressed out I was about this, nobody even cared. I should be able to walk to work or anywhere else I want without my safety being compromised. One man I spoke to claimed he went to the house on Filmore, but said he didn’t see anything. He probably drove right past that house and didn’t bother doing a thorough check.
Your pets could not be in better hands if they end up here...
One of the worst places to adopt a pet from. The facility doesn't ever look clean and is extremely outdated. Let alone the staff members there could care less on the way you or your animals are treated. They do not approach owners and or caregivers correctly on the passing of animals. They do not sit you down and tell you they just go off limb and say "oh you mean that deceased one it should've said it on the paper" when the paper was recorded with no notion of a passing of an animal. This is the same shelter that is known for putting a dog down if it goes in with a minor injury, no chance to see the owners or contact the owners, just dead. A formal complaint will be going in a city hall against Dwain Martinez, the manager, and the other staff at AAC. It's time for a change, it's public property and we are paying the taxes for this place to stay open, do yourselves a favor go to the shelter who I know treats their animals well; Otero County Animal Shelter.
I went to AAC to pic up three fearful dogs to go to the dog rescue that I volunteer for. The staff are really nice to work with, and they do all they can to get the dogs and cats adopted out.
What I witnessed I was heartbroken 💔. An elderly man was bringing in his cat, which realized he couldn't take care of it anymore. The staff was very empathetic and comforted him through his ordeal.
I wish I could give them a good rating, but whoever the supervisor is could not be any more rude or defensive. I adopted a dog THREE days ago and I have to take him to the vet tomorrow morning due to two severe ear infections. There is dried blood in his ears and he shakes his head, whimpers, and scratches at them everyday since I’ve had him. I tried to take him yesterday to just get them cleaned in case that’s all the issue was and the groomer didn’t even want to touch them in fear of hurting him further. When I called and asked if there was any sort of program that they offer to help with unexpected vet expenses from their dogs that were adopted the same week an issue arises, the “supervisor” really had the gall to argue with me and act like I didn’t read all of the paperwork. He told me that due to the dogs unknown background it can’t be determined to be their fault, but it’s August and they have had him since February? I made sure to ask that on the day of adoption. That’s not the dogs background, sir, that’s you thinking your staff is cleaning the animals ears when they are clearly not. My dog is a shar-pei mix and has short ears which, if they knew anything about animals, need to be cleaned very regularly due to the accessibility of dirt and bacteria getting in there. I don’t want to say do not adopt an animal from here, as my dog is so sweet and loving and I’m so glad to have freed him from that hell, but make SURE you do a full health inspection before you leave with your pet. Bring it up to them face to face so they cannot screw you and your new baby over like they did to us. I will be taking my poor guy into the vet tomorrow, when I’m 36 weeks pregnant and don’t have the extra money to spend. Terrible service, I feel so sorry for the animals that end up here. Something needs to be changed.
