Wags and whiskers was the best experience my boyfriend and I had. Very kind and sweet people. Heard back almost immediately after sending in an application. The foster for our sweet kittens we adopted was delightful. She takes care of the litter amazingly. Even the workers at wags and whiskers are fast and take payment over the phone for quick easy adoption. We love our little fur babies and would recommend them to friends, family and all. <3
A few years ago while visiting our daughter in Chico we stopped in at Wags and Whiskers to just “look”. Passing all the cute pups, we instantly fell in love with Via! Although she became pretty sick soon after her adoption, the staff were amazing at taking great care of her and nursing her back to health. We can’t imagine our lives without this great pup! Thank you wags and whiskers and all the awesome staff!!
I was looking for a friend for my 12 year old basset. I wanted a smaller dog around 3 year old. I reviewed their great website and saw this little guy. They were having an adoption day at PetSmart on Saturday. They only bring a certain number of dogs and he was not one who were brought. They were so accommodating and efficient getting him there from the foster home. Wags and Whiskers worked with me to get him neutered and ready for me to take to Oregon the next day. They are a super group that work for the welfare of all their animals. The Chico Pet Vet, in the Trader Joe’s shopping area, is very accommodating and helpful to this organization. Warning: DO NOT adopt a dog from this organization, you will have a VERY sick dog on your hands. TLDR: Wags and Whiskers has dirty, disease-ridden dogs and hides the severtity of this while charging ridiculous adoption fees. Expect at least $1-2k in vet bills after adoption. Instead adopt from Butte Humaine Society, they have healthy dogs and ethical practices. Our puppy died within 2 days of adopting her in a terrible and painful way. Our story: When my partner adopted his puppy for $500 he was told that she was healthy and just had some skin and pooping issues. They told us they checked the puppys poop and it came back fine. What a fat lie that was. Not even 12 hours later, she started vomiting nonstop and wouldn't eat or leave her bed. The vet was closed for 2 days so we took her to emergency services at VCA Hospital. She tested positive for PARVO VIRUS, which is DEADLY for puppies. Mind you she was just 8 weeks old and had already been nuetered so she was already weak. We spent over $1000 on that visit plus meds. The vet at VCA told us that many many dogs come in from Wags and Whiskers, and that they KNOWINGLY WITHHOLD ILLNESSES from thier adoption parents. The next morning she was on death's door and passed away within 3 hours of hospitalization. She was such a sweet dog and would have lived a good life had it not been for the absolute gross negligence of this rescue. I wouldnt reccomend a dog from here to my worst enemy, its truly heartbreaking watching a puppy die slowly and painfully. Save yourself the pain and go anywhere else.
I’ve adopted two lovely cats through Wags and Whiskers, M’aiq and Zoa, both healthy and beautiful. The adoption process was easy and they provided vaccines during their first year. My latest cat, Zoa, came from a lovely foster home that took amazing care of him during his first weeks of life. I’m so blessed to have these cats in my life.
Recently adopted the sweetest baby boy. He is the perfect fit for our family. Wags and Whiskers made the process super easy, and it was great to go through a trustworthy shelter. There’s a lot of pets available online, so the process can be difficult deciding where to look. The foster family made setting up a meet & greet simple. Family was understanding and so caring. Loved that they exposed the dogs to different animals and children. We will definitely look into Wags and Whiskers when we are ready to find our boy a friend!
