There are good aspects and bad aspects of this organization. First the good: The leadership in their TFFC program is outstanding. The case workers in this TFFC program are smart and helpful. Their parent training workshops are excellent. Also, the people who run the health center are pretty good and very responsive. Now, the negatives: They are very focused on foster care and adoption seems like an afterthought. The administrative skills of their staff is poor. They lack the proper technology and processes to keep up with their workloads. They are NOT understaffed. They don't have the proper streamlined systems in place to be efficient. Their programs teach the kids how to survive, not how to achieve higher levels of success. Most of the kids will end up living in public housing when they age out of care.

I am not going to lie being a foster child with SCO is not easy but I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything on the world. I am only 13 and I became a government child when I was only 8 so as you could imagine I was terrified. I was never an easy child to work with and I gave the department hell but in the end there never gave up on me. I know that they might be a little rough on the outside but when you give them time and show them that you are worth helping they will make wonders. I not saying that they are the best people because trust me they are not they can be liars and disrespectful at times even sometimes unprofessional trust me I have seen and heard some stories but most of the people there truly care about the kids and see them as there own. My first caseworker who has been with me for 5 years bunts moves away and it broke my heart. From the first day I gave her the most trouble and I mean cursing her out to throwing toys but she never gave up on me when she could have. I mean but of course everyone has their opinions of the agency and not everyone may agree with me but I thought that maybe you should hear all the good that they can do❤️❤️

Acs needs to look over that entire agency .they treat the foster parents poorly. They keep the young children in care until they are too old for people to adopt them or they just age out. They need more workers !!!! They have young children in their care since they were 4 , 5 years later that child is still in care and they claim they don' t have enough foster parents that want to adopt . They lie and its all about the $$$ from the city .its not about the Kids at all.

I was once part of this organization in 1987. I was 3 yrs old when the government took me and my older brother into the system. Now I'm 33 with 2 children of my own and one on the way, my brother 34 with 7 children. As far as I can remember it's not the best place but they try to help. I remember on holidays like thanksgiving they would prepare food for everyone to eat and take. Christmas every child that walked in for a visit they also walked out with 1 or more gifts. And birthdays was ok to celebrate in the agency for the 1hr time u got for ur visist. Overall the way u grow up is depending on the family that takes u out and the judges u deal with after. I had a case worker that was my family and he was transferred and taken off the case due to relationship. Which I never understood. I also remember the site wasn't SCO I was (St. Ottile Family Services) ran by BCW not ACS like today. Now a lot older i see this place has changed dramatically but dont we all lol. I think i wanna go back to see if anyone that works there remembers me as a child and could give me some stories. I have a whole lot to say but I'm not a reporter. I'm just leaving a review. P.S. Don't believe everything u here & it's different what happens behind closed doors. Ppl can smile and have a evil skull with bad intentions. The agencies want money, families want money and u are the money being tossed and transferred around like the next meal on ur plate. I wouldnt trade my experience for nothing. GOD put hard challenges to the soldiers that will knock it down and keep surviving. PEACE,LOVE,UNITY & HAPPINESS SINCERELY, Taz Ramos

Unprofessional! They only care about the money, they DO NOT look for the best interest of the child. They do not do their jobs, we always have to follow up with them instead of them reaching out and keeping us posted on any changes. Poor management, poor staff! Case workers do not care!

Horrible I grew up in foster care of myself at Edwin Gould Children and Families and they had a mission statement that clearly stated we are for the betterment of the families and the children now this agency don't have a mission statement don't have envisions you could clearly see that they're only focus is making those numbers and keeping these kids in foster homes they only focus on helping crackheads and hide party people on drugs and adversities they don't Focus the Baseline and everyone that comes in those doors and needs the assistance they have poor black professional skills and they lack organization skills and integrity something needs to be done about a deceased like this because they're not helping the system they're creating the pollution that creates the chaos and the lack of money for other resources in the system
