My cat was diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia from my local vet, she told me it would be best to get the surgery done as soon as possible . The same day I called around to find a vet in Brooklyn to see if they do the surgery , it was a little difficult but I did find one . When it came time to make the appointment for the surgery the vet I was going to go to was on maternity leave . I was devastated because I wanted to keep my cat Astro as close to home for emergency purposes as this surgery is super intense and invasive . My mom and her boyfriend found HEAL and I called and they said they can do the surgery . I was so happy because even though we live all the way across Brooklyn at least he would be in Brooklyn close enough . I can not stress this enough the team there is amazing , the vet Dr.Dumas is the most nicest energetic person I’ve ever met lol and she is super communicative she did explain the surgery to me when I was there in person which I really did appreciate so I can understand what he was about to go through not to mention she would call me to let me know how he is doing . Even the surgeon who did the surgery called me directly before and after, and told me he did amazing which I was sooooo happy about . They also give you a price breakdown for every single thing that needs to be done and they make sure the diagnosis is 100% correct as somethings are hard to truly diagnose . The vet assistants there and even the front desk was super communicative and helpful . Astro did have to stay overnight and even the overnight nurse kept me updated on his progress . I will definitely be recommending this place , and if you are reading this review you should definitely go here they care about your animal to an extreme level which is ofc what you want for you fur baby !!! Not to mention the staff was in love with him 😁

If you are a devoted dog parent who wants your "fur baby" to get personal, respectful, professional and gentle care, HEAL is the place where you'll find it! I've been bringing my rescue girl, Molly, there since she was a puppy and it's always a very warm and positive experience. Dr Dumas is so compassionate and caring about my Molly, but she also takes an equal interest in me, the parent. I'm very grateful to her, and to all of her kind, caring and flexible staff. As a team, everyone at HEAL makes you feel heard and they do whatever they can to keep you and your "fur baby" both healthy and happy.

Dr. Atkinson is amazing! I have been bringing my dog Athena to her for over 6 years. I live in Staten Island and when she moved her practice to Brooklyn, I happily followed. I would not trust the care of my dog to anyone but Dr. Atkinson. She is caring, compassionate, and always recommends the best options for your dog. She genuinely cares about the well-being of your animal and her bedside manner cannot be matched. I would highly recommend bringing your pet to HEAL Dumbo.

Heal is great! The staff is super caring and responsive, plus they have lots of treats readily available for puppies/young dogs to make vet visits less of a burden. The only way they could improve would be expanded hours into Sunday!

Our first ever visit today we saw Dr. Buddendorf for a 48 hour recheck after my dog’s foreign body surgery at another hospital. The whole staff was professional, kind, empathetic, and educating. Dr. B was truly amazing and I can’t wait for her to be her new vet!
