What a gem of an animal rescue. Although small, they had lots of well cared for rescues. The staff were kind and definitely committed. While visiting my newly adopted furbaby, they checked on us to make sure everything was going OK while giving us plenty of time to play and interact. We also received heartworm and flea preventative, a bed and a toy! Great way to start off with our new baby.

I’m a volunteer there and I see how nice the staff is and how good they are doing their jobs. They take care of the animals super well and responsibly. I can also say that every time I go there’s a new animal adopted!!

My wife and I adopted a 6 month old kitten today. First time adopting at the Ames Animal Shelter. Our experience was beyond outstanding. Everything was top notch from the viewing to application to picking up our kitten. Will definitely be back if considering any other pets in the future.

The people that work there are angels. They have a tough job because some people are not nice to their animals. They are there loving and caring for all of our smaller friends. Great place to find your new best pal. Sometimes, I go in just to pet the kitties. :)

We adopted our two cats here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We are so glad to find our girl and boy here. One thing I think they can improve is their skills of taking photos for the cats. The cats are actually way more beautiful than what they appear in the website photos.

Adopted this little guy from the Ames Animal Shelter and he is the most friendly, playful, and talkative cat I've ever met. Fresh out of the crate and he was rolling around like he owned the place, purring and the works. I wanted to point this out because there's no way a cat would be *this* comfortable and happy in a new environment if they weren't given the utmost care during their time in the shelter between homes. AAS cares about their pets and it shows.
