I cannot say enough good things about Rivers. This urgent care was founded during the pandemic by two veterinarians who recognized what every pet owner has experienced firsthand over the past several years — there’s a major disparity between the number of vets and the number of animals needing care. And if your pet needs timely help that can’t wait for weeks for the first available appointment at your regular vet, but isn’t life-threatening enough to merit a spot at the extremely overburdened ER, an in-between place was needed to fill that gap. Here is that place for the South Hills and beyond. Over the past couple of years I have had a handful of visits here for exactly the above reasons. One dog was seen for an eye infection. Another dog had a skin tag on his belly suddenly catch on something, and it became an open wound that they ended up removing for him on the spot. My cat had a severe UTI with crystals and was in a very bad way before their diagnosis and help. They work on a loosely first-come, first-served basis where you arrive, sign in on a list on the door, then return to your car and wait for them to call and ask about what’s going on. That helps them triage the order in which the pets are to be seen, and they cut off accepting sign-ins for the day when they know they will not be able to see any more pets by the time they are going to close. It is a fair system. I have been incredibly grateful for their direct approach to explaining your options, their excellent care and knowledge, and their very reasonable prices for this type of facility. My pets and I are so glad they’re here.

I would absolutely recommend Rivers Veterinary Urgent Care to everyone. Their levels of knowledge, professionalism, compassion, and care hold no bounds. Our 12 year old cat was having a medical emergency, when they took him into their care, treated him, gave their all to save him. Unfortunately, he did not make it, but I cannot say enough times how well he, and we were treated while we were there. Three days after he passed, we received a sympathy card in the mail, signed by everyone in the office. Thank you all so much for everything you all did !

Dippy Just want to thank everyone that helped us through this. Had an unexpected emergency with our fur baby and they were right there to help. The outcome wasn't good and sadly had to put our cat down. They were absolutely compassionate and helped us get through the decision we had to make and also the experience. Not easy to hold your cat, that's a huge part of your family and say goodbye to. They helped us so much during this.

I've had several cats and dogs, and that means many vet visits. I cannot recommend Rivers Veterinary enough. The staff are kind, compassionate, and patient with their furry patients. They provide estimates so you see the price of services, which can help you see what the potential cost could be before moving forward. Their prices are less than multiple vets in the area! I budgeted more than I paid so I donated to their paws fund-- and I have a kitten from the streets so he got the works. Rivers offers standing appointments and walk-ins, making it easier for people to care for their pets. If you and your pet find yourself in need, head to Rivers and you'll get the help and compassion no matter what the situation.

Everyone at Rivers is kind and caring, and all the veterinarians are all outstanding. We have taken two of our cats here for surgery. One was an emergency surgery, and I couldn't be more grateful for them.

The care they gave my pet was excellent. They were gentle and sensitive to her anxiety. It is first come first served if you don't have an appointment, but they offer pet drop offs if you can't wait and the vet will call you during the examination to ensure that your pet gets the full care they require. I chose to wait in my car with my cat because it would be the least stressful option for her. The wait was long but worth it to get same day care.
