We adopted Barkley, now Butters! ☺️ This handsome fella emerged from his timid shell, and his personality truly shines! We are grateful to the donor who waived his adoption fee. This is the best facility I've rescued from. Clean, professional, and sincere care for all animals in their facility. Update: 6 months later. To give you insight of this sweet boy's personality....During the school year when I go to wake up each one of my boys Butters will leap onto their bed, lay right beside their head and purr, awaiting to be petted. My teenage son wakes up gently. Then when I go to my other son's room he follows the same. He's very treat motivated and runs to the kitchen at the slightest opening of a bag of chips because he anticipates it to be his treats. His favorite pastime is to sit in front of a window to watch the birds. If he sees a bird, he gets excited. I hung a cat window hammock and placed a bird feeder across from his window. This truly made his day. We are so blessed with our sweet boy.
I loved my experience with Chesapeake Humane Society! I came in not really knowing who I’d meet, hoping for a special kitty, and there was Juno! (Formerly Prom Queen). The staff here are amazing and super easy to talk to, and really work with you to help you find your new furry family member. We love our sweet Junebug and we are so grateful to the staff here! Juno has really come into her own and let her meanie guard down, and now loves to give me, her dad, and doggy sister kisses. She was so ready to love. Thank you for everything Chesapeake Humane Society!! Our family is now complete.
Adopted our sweet boy from here this week! Was very impressed with the staff and the cleanliness of the place. Loved that they had plenty of cats free roaming so that we could see how they interact with each other. We were able to spend as much time as we needed to come to a decision and we were given space to do so. The staff answered all of our questions very happily, especially Margot (sorry if that spelling is incorrect!), and we felt at ease through the adoption process. Would highly recommend adopting through this shelter. Plenty of kitties that need homes!! Can’t go wrong going here!!
Though I haven’t adopted an animal from the Chesapeake Humane Society, I have nothing but positive things to say about them. The staff and volunteers are incredibly dedicated and welcoming. The facility is clean and well-maintained, and the animals are clearly well cared for. The staff is knowledgeable and provides excellent support and resources. If you’re considering adopting, I highly recommend visiting the Chesapeake Humane Society!
Everything was clean and upkept and the area was nice, but they don't allow pet visits "unless I am going to adopt". so how do I know if I want a cat unless I can pet it and get to absorb it's behavior with me first? Lol
Found our sweet Sadie here. She's helped to heal our broken hearts over the loss of our Sweet Girl. She's smart, loving and a joy to parent. We are grateful to both PETA and CHS for rescuing her. We comment daily that we can't believe someone could have been so heartless. Thanks to all for your wonderful work. Have attached a Pic with her hair all grown out!
