It is a great benefit for everyone here in the city of Chesapeake. The adoption fees are quite reasonable, and animals are well cared for. However I personally feel that the best part of the equation here is the staff. They are quite friendly and very accommodating. I have witnessed them really trying to help people as they go through the adoption process. In my opinion, It is a lot better than going through some of the other animal care organizations in the area. Not that the other places were mean or unhelpful, just that this place I feel really tries to help you.

I love how this building was designed around the pets’ needs! So clean and welcoming! Also- they have donated goods for donations- cute stuff! Collars, harnesses, beds, and SO MANY COSTUMES! Consider stopping by for your pet supplies & a good cause!

Was shocked at how large this place is. It's almost depressing to see how many animals need homes. I'm only giving 4 stars because my 2lb kitten I just adopted was spayed. To clarify, I don't have a single issue with them spaying her, quite the opposite, in fact. My issue is with the fact that she is only 2 lbs. I was glad that they provided pain management for her for 3 days (which is standard for this surgery). The whole facility was clean and did not have any bad odors (which made me want to ask HOW!?!). The girls at the front desk seemed to have a good flow when it was busy, and we're polite and informative. (Picture of her in her surgery onesie for tax)

Everyone was so kind and helpful when it came to adopting Frady! His foster mom spoke to us and we learned about his mannerisms and things to pay extra attention to! They helped us get what we needed for him and my fiance and I are so so excited to add him to our family! A massive thanks to the shelter staff and his foster mom for the lovely experience! 💝🥰

A bright and modern facility, welcoming front desk reception. I was given plenty of time to meet with a dog I was interested in adopting and took him home the same day. I am very happy with my sweet new senior boy.

We've adopted two hounds from here over the years. This is a nice, clean place that always has a variety of animals in need of a good home. The staff is courteous and friendly, and the main reason I'm writing is to thank Danielle for going above and beyond this afternoon (right at closing) to help us out with a stressful situation involving one of our fur babies. Thank you SO much, Danielle, much appreciated for your kindness and understanding!!
