Description We are a city-owned and city-operated animal shelter in St. George, Utah, and we try to find good homes for the animals that are brought into the shelter. Our employees are city employees and part of the St. George Police Department. We are by appointment only. Please call the shelter to schedule an appointment to adopt, pick up your animal, or owner surrender an animal.
We saw their post for a 1 year old male Alaskan Malamute named Sparta. They arranged a time to meet him. They told us that his previous owner was a homeless person and that they wanted Sparta to go to someone that had had a Malamute before. Also, Sparta was an escape artist and shouldn't go to someone that already had a dog or cat. That they were looking for someone that could spend a lot of time with him. Well, we had an Alaskan Malamute before, and we had been looking for one for sometime. And our backyard is cinder block, and we are retired. We love the breed and Sparta is now a part of our family. We did changed his name to Eli. Thanks to the St. George Animal shelter. They made sure he had all his shots, was chipped, and that he was neutered.
Officer Allred was tremendously helpful. She contacted us immediately to confirm she had our missing dog, and she took exceptional care of him while he was in the shelter. She went the extra mile to help us retreive our Teddy in a timely manner. We are so grateful!
They are very friendly and provide excellent service. The place was pretty clean considering it is an animal shelter. Stop by if you are interested in a pet, we rescued a cat and he is a wonderful! The prices are very reasonable and the animals are in need.
I adopted my sweet Maggie from these good folks and I just want to express my gratitude for that. Also, a very caring officer just dropped by a dish and some dog food donated by PetSmart to help me feed my family mutts. Thank you, Miss Davis. Much love and appreciation, Jake
It's just slightly annoying that an appt. is required but that's due mostly to my changing schedule. It was very cool though that an employee (Holly[or Hollie]) noticed us checking out the outside dogs and she invited us to take a spot that didn't show. She was super kind, super helpful and super eager to help the dogs find a home. Just as cute as can be. She is the best. Another gal helped also to put 2 dogs (Ziggy and Chewey) together in the yard to check compatibility. I'm sorry I don't recall her name but she was likewise really awesome. Overall tremendous staff experience. Seems like they genuinely care.
The staff is great! You do have to make an appointment to go see the pups. But they are usually pretty good about getting ya in. It took me awhile to find a forever pup. But we adopted Potter a few weeks ago and I have never been so happy with a dog. He is amazing. He staff was great with all the info at adoption. They made sure he was fixed and microchipped. Sent us home with a 35lb bag of food and a bunch of treats and a couple toys as well as a leash! I'm so grateful to have found my best friend there
