My dog Aurora had mouth cancer. I found out and had such little time to schedule her surgery because it was so aggressive. I was referred to Dr. Sam by a friend. I live in Santa Barbara and made the trip up to Sacramento. I am still impressed how well everything went! She had to have almost half of her jaw removed. She is cancer free and looking amazing! Back to her puppy self. First picture is only 2 months after surgery! 2nd and 3rd are the day of. Dr. Sam saved my baby ❤️

We have five animals at home (4 cats and a dog), so naturally, we have to bring them into the vet quite often. Ever since moving to the Sacramento area, I have brought my animals here. The vets here are always very nice and are able to let you fully voice any concerns you may have and are very good at explaining what it is that they believe is the best course of treatment for your animals. They are also extremely quick. I have never had to be here for more than 40 minutes at max. Other vet places I have been to I am lucky to get out in an hour. You can tell that the vets and technicians truly do care about the animals, and you are always greeted by friendly faces upon entering the building.

I’ve been going to Dr. Sam with all concerns regarding my papillon Fonzie since moving to Sacramento 9 years ago. He always goes above and beyond to make sure Fonzie is in tip-top shape! I’ve had a couple other Veterinarians while living in other cities, and none of them compare to Dr. Sam. He is brilliant, compassionate, hard working, and reliable. He will ensure your pet is healthy for a long time to come. I highly recommend his services!

They didn't even know that my rescue wasn't neutered. Not only did they not know, when I saw testicles on him and called them to tell them I didn't think he was neutered they assured me he was and that "there is a procedure that will leave the testicles behind" This year we changed to a family friend vet, and he ended up having an anal gland tumor that needed removed. While she was getting ready to remove the tumor. She discovered he was not neutered and told me that there is no procedure that leaves them behind. I also said that I thought the dog was albino. And he told me that there are no albino dogs. Only white dogs. That is also incorrect. And my dog has eye conditions that have resulted from being albino. My other dog had some labs come back that were abnormal and he wanted to do additional testing just to diagnose the issue. I told him based off the list of possibilities we wouldn't be able to stop the progression of the disease so I asked how should we move forward to keep him as comfortable as possible. He told me he couldn't give any advice until I did the additional $400 testing. That dog has since been healthy and functioning very well since leaving this clinic. So obviously not dying from his list of serious disease states. At best they have a lack of knowledge or understanding at worst they're negligent.

I've had several positive experiences with this veterinary practice, and I'm grateful for the caring and compassionate treatment my dog and I receive from their staff. Their approach feels genuine and understanding, and they prioritize educating pet owners rather than pushing unnecessary treatments for profit. I discovered this practice a few years ago after an emergency when my dog dislocated her hip. After the initial emergency care with an emergency vet, I chose to continue with this practice for her follow-up care and ongoing routine health visits. As someone in the healthcare field, I appreciate the clear expectations set by the staff on a sign outside that humanizes providers and fosters a positive environment for both pets and owners. Their message of welcoming all breeds feels inclusive while standing against bullying behavior of owners is commendable. When staff are supported and empowered, it leads to better outcomes for patients, whether they are human or animal. It's refreshing to see a business that prioritizes values that contribute to a healthy community.

my 3 pups all ate raisins late on a Friday evening the next morning one of my girls still wasn’t feeling well after being in the er the night before, I reached out to Dr. Varon and he worked Sugar into his schedule so he could check her out. His entire staff was warm and welcoming and was more than willing to help me with my sweet girl. I am so grateful for him and his team. Wrote my first review (above) 3 years ago and I'm coming back to edit it now. I'm crying ugly tears writing this but I truly want everyone to know how wonderful this team is. Dr. Sam rescued my pup Sugar last summer when she decided what looked like a mango pit. (If you don't notice my dogs are always eating things they shouldn't.) She would have died without the emergency surgery he performed. They cared for my pup pumpkin when she had puppies, then again after she and I were attacked by a dog leaving her with an abscess. They've treated ear infections, yeasty toes, and given routine vaccines. Now, my pup Honey has cancer, it's very aggressive and though Dr. Tyler tried to remove it, it was unfortunately too bad. My Honey girl is still with me right now but the days are very numbered and it's been a lot of back and forth on when I have to make the decision to say goodbye. It has been an emotional roller coaster and Dr. Tyler has been more than willing to answer questions, even outside of business hours. The staff has been very gentle and caring. They've been patient and accommodating with me as I navigate through this process with my sweet girl to ensure we both are comfortable. I cannot recommend Dr. Sam, Dr. Tyler, and Dr. Sasha enough. I also cannot be more thankful to each vet tech and administration in the office. If there are angels on earth y'all are them! If you're reading this and you're in need of a vet, for your new puppy, your pup who's just acting a bit off, your pup who needs an emergency surgery, your baby needing palliative care, or the one transitioning out of this life...please book your appointment with this office. You will not regret it.
