We adopted our sweet little dog from High Country Humane a little over 3 months ago. Their facility was very clean and cheerful and everyone was so nice and helpful during the adoption process. We were able to foster our little dog first to be sure that our other dog and her would get along. Prior to adopting her, she had a minor medical issue and the staff were responsive, available, and got her in to see their vet right away. I know the staff and foster parents work so hard to help the animals thrive and get homes. We are incredibly thankful for High Country Humane and our sweet Morgan.

On going issue: This last Sunday my family and I traveled to Flagstaff and adopted puppies from HCH at an event in which they had several puppies available. This experience was wonderful and I was able to match up not only one but two dogs for our family. These puppies were incredibly perfect as they were exactly what my family needed after a loss of our furbabies last year. My husband was able to find his soul dog, which was an instant connection. My son made remarks about how he no longer needs a girlfriend because he now has a new puppy.

My experience here has always been great. I should note that I've never adopted from here, but this is the first place I go to for donating my dog's old stuff. I can't thank the staff enough for their kindness. They are always cheerful when I come into the building to donate supplies and they are also quick to respond to emails, too. The place is also very clean and the animals they care for look so happy when I see them ❤

I can't possibly praise High Country Humane enough. The people there have always been amazing--and now they are rescuing even more animals than ever! I have adopted there twice, and I have also fostered three puppies. The staff has always been organized, helpful, and caring. I urge everyone to donate and volunteer. Thank you so much, High Country Humane, for my wonderful puppy, Aspen Ponderosa. She's an absolute joy, thanks to your tremendous efforts to rescue her and find her a loving foster home. Thank you so very much for all that you do to rescue animals!

My partner and I adopted a cat in early January whose handwritten bio read, “I love other cats!” We decided to bring her home feeling comfortable about introducing her to our resident cat. The statement on her card was a blatant lie. We followed all of the introduction guidelines! We waited weeks before allowing them to roam the space together after multiple sessions of supervised face-to-face sessions between a baby gate. To make it clear, they were not thrown into the same space instantly. Through every step she has shown signs of discomfort either through hissing and growling, or chasing the resident cat when they are in the same space. We waited to advance to the next steps until they were both handling well, but the last step is allowing them to share the space and this has not gone well. She chases our resident cat under beds/into corners and the moment he feels comfortable enough to come out she chases him right back under. She will hiss at and hit him too. We contacted a cat behavior specialist and have spent a lot of money in attempt to aid this process. She just simply does not like our resident cat. And this isn’t her fault, but we feel as though the shelter should have better advertised her as best to be placed in a one cat household. We have grown to really care for her and we are desperate to make this work, but it has been a much bigger headache than what we were told and we believe the shelter was negligent in marketing her as “loving” other cats. 2/12 UPDATE: Per the company response I feel it important to note that when we asked about her description we were told they tested her with one other (male) cat and she was “unbothered” by his presence. No note of her being friendly with multiple cats. She was in their care for less than a week by the time we took her home.

Beautiful place. People are incredible. I can not say enough good about them and their dedication. The facility is amazing and very clean. Thank you so much for loving Franklin till he found home. Medical is wonderful Added more to our family: Jack a rotti mix was alone in the forest for two months. He and Franklin are brothers. Next was Gabe the rooster, we think. Not sure because he will lay an egg and crow. He adds an extra layer of security when the hens are foraging. Last there was Flopsy and Butters. Both bunnies were found lost and turned in to the wonderful folks at High Country. Butters is blind and Flopsy acts like a seeing eye bunny. They live with my kids in Phoenix. These people who volunteer and work with these souls in need are the best people to know. The more around them I am the more I marvel at their generous loving hearts. Please stop in and adopt.
