We unexpectedly lost our sweet 8-1/2 yo doberman, Frank, at home this past Sat. She was diagnosed with DCM on Thursday and while we knew our remaining time with her would be short, we never expected it to be that short. We were in shock and didn't know what to do when she passed. I called Blue Pearl and they were very empathetic and told us to bring her in and they would take care of the creamation process. When we arrived they had us go around back and were so caring and patient when they came out to get her and never made us feel rushed to leave. The next day I told my husband I wish I would have had my wits about me to ask for her paw print. I was so surprised and grateful when I went to get the mail today and saw the card and prints they had sent. It was our first visit to Blue Pearl and even though they didn't have a relationship with her they still understood how much she meant to us. I can't thank them enough!!!
Seems as though they have only one veterinarian working on Sundays which can pose a problem getting seen. Our dog tore her nail exposing the soft tissue, causing a lot of pain. We didn't have to wait long before being sent to an exam room, but since they go by triage priority and other animals came in with critical concerns, our time with the vet was being pushed further away and we spent 3 hours just waiting. We ended up leaving without treatment because they werent sure when we'd be next. I definitely understand why we weren't a priority, but as a suggestion, maybe hire an additional vet to help with the workload?
Losing a pet, especially unexpectedly, is something I wish upon no one. But Blue Pearl made the experience the best it possibly could be. We had never been there before, they had never met my pet, yet they treat us all as family. Allowing us time to grieve and sending us away with several keepsakes. Not to mention, exactly a week later I received a hand written card in the mail from their staff expressing their sympathy for our loss. I will recommend Blue Pearl to everyone. They made one of the hardest days of my life bearable and I am beyond grateful.
Took my German Shepherd there as she was coughing and having difficulty breathing. They put me in a room right away and sent someone in to check on her. There was a pretty significant wait but it was only AFTER they first checked out my girl, to determine how critical she was. They also discussed next steps and cost so I could make an informed decision prior to any treatment as she wasn’t in a life or death situation at the time. I would definitely go back and see Dr Beck again and I do trust the team with my baby girl. Hopefully I won’t need to go back though…
We unexpectedly lost my dog yesterday after this place neglected to EVERYTHING they possibly could to help him. Typically this place Takes care of our dogs when they have an emergency however, yesterday, when my dog was having issues breathing, My mother took him up there for me because I’m disabled and it was just easier for her to go quickly. She gets there and calls me about an hour later and tells me that he has pneumonia and is on oxygen and they are recommending he be sent to Overland Park to stay on oxygen BUT That would be $6000 A DAY (So basically, if you don’t have the money, your dog dies and they don’t care) which we didn’t have the money to do so she tells me they’re going to euthanize him and I say no you’re not, bring him home. so he comes home and stays in the back of the car because he was in such bad shape but I wanted to be with my dog when he passed, And not let him go without me there in some strange place! So they bring him home. But mom calls me on the way home and tells me that they (blue pearl) Ran after her in the parking lot and told her “oh no I’m sorry he has fluid around his heart”… So what was it fluid around his heart or pneumonia? I don’t even think they knew. when my mom got there with him, she asked for an x-ray on his stomach but they Took it upon themselves, and ignored my mom and instead did x-rays on his chest because they thought it was whatever they thought it was. Needless to say my dog is dead and it’s blue pearls fault because they didn’t do everything in their power to help him, or even give him a little relief from, whatever he was going through. They kept saying well we could try this, but it’s not Going to fix the problem it’s only going to be a temporary solution. Temporary or not you should do everything in your power to help these animals not just ASSUME YOU KNOW EVERYTHING. NOT ALL DOG CHEMISTRY IS THE SAME JUST LIKE NOT ALL HUMAN CHEM SAME SO I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU GET OFF CATEGORIZING ALL DOGS TO HAVE THE SAME OUTCOME! Oh, and when I called yesterday to ask why they didn’t drain the fluid from my dogs, heart and why they wanted to euthanize him. The receptionist was very very rude to me and said “you were not the lady up here earlier” With a very rude attitude. Excuse me, but I have a right to be upset because you’re vet Did not do everything in their power to help MY dog stay alive and instead send him home to die.. You do not have a right to get an attitude!!!! We need a different emergency vet in Kansas City. Preferably one that is accredited by the Better Business Bureau unlike this one!
Horrible!!!! My husband took our dog there last night because she was visibly in pain in her leg and hip. They took an X-ray of her hips and intestines because she pooped out a wrapper of some kind but didn’t focus on the site of her actual pain. They gave her some fluids and a shot of pain meds and sent her out the door with discharge instructions for a gastrointestinal issue which isn’t the problem as there was no vomit or diarrhea! What they failed to do was a thorough exam, had they actually done that they would have noticed her leg is swollen, she has a swollen lymph node in her neck and a fever! So after spending $700 with no answers and discharge instructions that don’t pertain to her situation at all we are at our actual vet where it took them all of 15 minutes to figure out and diagnose what’s going on with our girl. Never again will we take our animals to blue pearl not even in a pinch or emergency situation If I could give them 0 stars I would, thank you for stealing our money and not actually helping a precious member of our family.
