The adoption process was very nice with an opportunity to meet the dog individually outside on a leash or in a private room. Iā€™m happy to say Iā€™m (Petra) Stellaā€™s mama. šŸ¶šŸ’•She walked in the house and made herself at home. I canā€™t imagine my life without this little girl. I love her so much.

Long story short: we went in one day "to look" and we left with a cat šŸ˜…šŸ„ŗ We visited about three weeks to a month ago now. It was right after I had to put my 15 year old childhood cat down. I was sad and I wanted to look at cats. We hung around for over an hour (maybe closer to two or three. Bless those poor workers šŸ˜… I know they were sick of us but were too nice to say) I didn't tell them why we were there, I couldn't speak it aloud but we played with some of the cats, and my boyfriend fell in love with a sweet little orange guy who we decided to name Gideon. šŸ§” It was tough having a new cat so soon after the last one, but I think he needed me as much as I did him. The silence hurt me more than his presence so for that, I thank KC Pet Project for putting up with my indecisive-ness and for being so good. Highly recommend. šŸ’– Enjoy the small spam šŸ§”

We love our adopted kitten but they did not tell us he had recently been treated for a respiratory infection that then got passed to our older cat. Luckily he was fine but we never would have known if our vet did not look into it. I understand they want to home as many animals as possible but transparency is also important.

I came in on march 12th with the intentions of adopting a cat. My boyfriend and I went in, looked at a few and saw one we loved. We asked to see him, the employee opened up the cage and he jumped out and we were greeted with a very ā€œgross looking back areaā€. We were then informed he had peed on himself in the car on the way to the shelterā€¦ and they didnā€™t clean it up! We decided we wanted to take him home and get him all fixed up. We went to the counter to get everything started, at no point were there any medical issues disclosed to us so we were happy! We take him home and everything was fine until march 14th, we noticed him sneezing a bit and we just decided it was probably a little bit of allergies so we kept an eye on him, then Friday rolls around and he declined rapidly all day. I decided to call around to a few emergency vets around 3 am as we was foaming at the mouth, had eye discharge, a snotty nose, he hadnā€™t eaten or had any water that day and it seemed that he was slightly struggling to use the bathroom and move. Of course the emergency vets were no help so in the morning I decided to call KCPP and they got me in contact with their vet and they had asked me to come in Monday at 1pm, from Saturday to Monday he just kept getting worse and worse and worse. I was almost sure he was going to need to be put down due to having FIP or something so I was very upset already. We get to the vet and they check him out and say ā€œoh itā€™s just his herpes flaring up! This will happen sometimes, they shouldā€™ve covered this with you at the shelter!ā€ In the most normal voice ever. Me and my boyfriend shared glances because NONE OF THEM EVER DISCLOSED TO US THAT MY CAT HAD HERPES. Typically it wouldnā€™t be a big deal but the fact that Iā€™ve seen a week cleaning pee off his butt because he canā€™t use the bathroom, snot, drool and boogers off his face because the respiratory part of it is completely out of control and worrying about my cat due to their failure to not tell me my cat has herpesā€¦ ridiculous. These things need to be disclosed to customers as these flares are an INSANE amount of work. Donā€™t adopt from here, they just want these animals gone, theyā€™ll just not tell you things and then once the animals gone they no longer want to help. I had called today to ask about surrendering him as I canā€™t deal with a cat THIS sick and they said they were booked out for weeks and my cats condition is only worsening even with medication. This cat needs more care than I can provide here at my home, itā€™s a constantly battle, it looks like at any minute he could ā€œkick the bucketā€ and itā€™s mortifying to live with.

The animals control is poorly managed and understaffed, also not available all hours needed. Been saving dogs a long time, independent and they never help when asked wasn't always like this.

I adopted a wonderful dog from KC pet project. I couldn't ask for a better dog. Thank you Casey pet project. I definitely got a winner when I got Sheba.
