Just adopted our new member to our family “Toby” aka Niko. All the kitties are happy and healthy you just want to adopt all. I’m so blessed we could give Toby a 2nd Chance, He’s so loved. Thank you ladies!!!
Had an incredibly smooth and positive experience adopting our first pet! We are grateful for the owner, Mina. She let us keep our chosen cat at the rescue for months until we were ready. Mina patiently walked us through the affordable adoption process with lots of helpful advice. On adoption day she gave us our cat’s favorite toys, foods and a box of treats! Mina and all the volunteers clearly pour their heart and soul into this. I can tell the cats here are loved and cared for. Highly recommend this place.
Where to start! Mina and the rest of the staff were beyond helpful, informative, caring and over all passionate about each and every animal in their possession. It is clean, organized and each cat is treated with individual special care. I've been adopting and volunteering at shelters my whole life across the country and this non profit really stood out. Their message is clear and their undeniable selfless love for these animals shines through most. Each cat there is so unique from tiny kittens of every breed to teenage cuties and large cats like Maine coons! The cat's kennels are set up in windows with plenty of light, play room, toys, kennel hammocks, kennel buddies so they can have ample time to socialize and with each kennel set up next to one another so they can interact with one another instead of live in solitude in a dark, windowless plastic box that I see most cats in shelters living in. They even have a fenced in courtyard with trees, grass and cute chairs where they let some of the outdoor indoor kitties lounge and watch birds. It warmed my heart and they could use all the help they can get from the community! The owner Mina, was telling me stories of all the ways she's helped around the city, tiny example of all the stories I'm sure she has. One story was about how she received a call from someone who had a cat giving birth outside in -10 degree weather and wouldn't come inside during and she went all the way out to rescue them all! She found homes for most but some were still there! She went into detail about how they specifically choose the right owners for the cats and anyone that might give them a bad feeling about not being a good fit they wouldn't adopt out to. That's HUGE for me. I hate seeing people unfit to adopt do it for the wrong reasons and it's a big fear of mine when fostering my own strays and giving them to shelters. They set them up with all their shots, vaccines, chip and spay/neutering. All at very low cost for a small non-profit. In all, I can't say enough about these women and what they are doing at Another Chance. I adopted my kitten from them and I hope you do too! They also except Venmo donations and volunteers! Check them out!
I had a really good experience with Mina, not sure what other people are on about. I feel that it may rub some people the wrong way that they can’t come in and walk out with a cat the same day. It’s very obvious she’s a passionate woman and treats these cats like her children, what percentage of cats are adopted and then dumped because it isn’t a right fit for the owner or that the owner isn’t properly equipped to own a pet? I had a good experience with her and the ladies that work there and I’d go back to adopt again
Do not bother adopting from here. There is a reason why there are a lot of terrible reviews from here, and there is good reason why. We decided to give Mina the benefit of the doubt and try adopting from this place since most of the bad reviews seemed to be from people who adopted kittens. (Note that a lot of the good reviews were from people who didn't go through the adoption process.) We were helped out by an amazing volunteer who showed us an amazing adult cat that fit our profile and wants. After talking with Mina and signing a contract, a week later when we were supposed to go home with the cat to our city, we were told the day before that we were being denied the adoption since we lived more than an hour away (two hours) which was not stated to us as being an issue any time or anywhere. We had told them two hours was our travel time. We had already spent $1000 in cat products to welcome our new cat since we had not foreseen being denied the DAY BEFORE the pickup for adoption. It was almost impossible to be in contact with her through email or phone for an appointment or even getting a response. For a place that says they are trying to give cats another chance, they hold unto their cats very tightly and do not communicate well. Don't waste your time here and expect reasonable communication. KC Pet Project is a much better facility and has much better staff. I feel bad for the volunteers here who work so hard to help the cats get adopted and have people being constantly refused adoption for little reason. For a shelter that is at capacity and facing kitten season, it is truly despicable to go through this much effort and being shown such service.
Mia, the owner, is a wonderful woman who truly loves all the cats they get there. She actually delivered my new kitten to my home, along with a large cage to keep her in while she got used to my other cat. They have a lot of cats there who need a home so anyone who wants a cat, I definitely recommend they come here.
