Description APARN’s Mission is to rescue pugs in need (whether abandoned, homeless, unwanted, or otherwise unable to remain in their current homes), provide medical care and emotional support, and place them into loving, permanent adoptive homes in Arizona. We strive to educate the public about the Pug dog breed, including its personality, healthy weight, special needs and care, and the importance of spay/neuter.

APARN is amazing. We adopted Frank-the-Pug in 2016. He has had a long, good life with us and his sibs-from-another-mother Rey, Finn and Penny. He is nearing the end of his life due to tracheal collapse, but I'm so glad we were able to share his journey with him.
This is a wonderful rescue. We got our girl Rose from them about 7 years ago. I had a great experience with them and would certainly adopt from them in the future.
I have a feeling that this rescue is operating under a non-profit status to support their dog hoarding. I should have been suspicious when filling out the app…there were some strange, and rather irrelevant questions on there. For example, “do you plan on getting married in the next year?” Seems a little invasive. I was already married with no intention to have children (also another question). Also, a $10 non-refundable application fee. None of the other rescues charge for applications. It seems as though the app is designed to weed out nearly everyone. I received a robo-denial claiming that I wasn’t age appropriate for adoption. I’m 42. What exactly do they consider age appropriate?? Also, I have 20 years of actual pug ownership, but they didn’t even bother to check any of my references. I reached out to them after getting denied, but never heard back from anyone. Don’t waste your time with this rescue.
This is a group of people who care about Pugs and finding good homes for them. I found their screening methods to be relevant and not overly intrusive. Living conditions are relevant when adopting a dog; that includes the physical, as well as the social environment, so expect these types of questions. Moreover, I found their adoption fees to be modest and it was clear to me that they care about the mission of helping Pugs, not collecting your money.
We have loved the pugs that we have adopted from APARN. We always watch because they always have such a variety of types of pug breeds too. I highly recommend them.
I absolutely love Terri Wood. She a wonderful PUG MOM and has awsome pugs up for adoptio . I've been with APARN Over 10 yrs....
