So grateful for this organization's help in bringing home our kitty! She has been with us for almost 3 months now. Julie was a huge help in making sure that we were prepared as first time cat owners and happily answered all of my many, many questions. When we came to the shelter, we were able to spend as much time as we needed to meet all the cats. We never felt pressured, but were given plenty of valuable information and advice. I appreciate the thoughtfulness they put into making sure that each cat is safe in their forever home. Pictures are from the well-kept cat rooms at the humane society. I love that the cats have room to move and play and are not kept in cages.
It has been 3 months since I brought Alexander (Zander) home! He is such a joy to have around and he has completely brightened up my life! He is the most wonderful cat and I am so thrilled to have him! He’s clever, curious, chatty, and a total cuddle bug! I seriously cannot pet him enough! He enjoys sleeping next to me and sunbathing (indoors) in the window during the day! Ms. Julie showed me around the cat sanctuary and allowed me to take my time in meeting different cats until I found Alexander. I could not have asked for a more perfect experience. I did not feel rushed or pressured at all and felt totally confident in making my decision when the time came! I cannot thank The Humane Society at Marietta enough for their kindness!
I adopted my second cat, Briar, back in the Summer. Cynthia was very helpful throughout the process, making sure that my house would be a long-term home for my new buddy. They do appear to be understaffed, but the workers/volunteers are clearly doing all that they are able to find their great animals places to call home.
They were amazing, specifically Cynthia, at being so kind, patient, and understanding throughout the whole adoption process. They have such sweet animals there and they take really good care of them. I’m so happy we can hear and we had an EXCELLENT experience. I’ve see. Lots of the negative reviews are regarding their phone calls and while it takes a few days to get in touch with someone, it’s very much understandable. It’s not like they have a receptionist always available to answer phone calls. If you’re looking to adopt a pet from a great facility, then just be patient and maybe follow up again in a few days if you haven’t received a call back!
I called multiple times for multiple days, with no answer or return call. I had questions about cats that had been dumped on my property and I couldn't keep them. I physically came to the property and no one answered the door. It's locked and curtains covered all windows. The sign just says to call. How am I supposed to call if NO ONE ANSWERS? These people do not care about animals.
Heartbreaking to write this... They currently have an elderly dog that I am interested in meeting. So few people want to adopt older animals, so I expected a positive experience. What I got was...NO EXPERIENCE AT ALL. Did not respond to multiple emails/contact through the website/multiple phone calls. Literally no response at all. And they don't let you come by in person without an appointment. How do you get an appointment when no one will return your calls/emails??? Heartbreaking. For potential adopters and for the precious animals in their care.
