We signed up our dog for spay at the SPCA in VB, and we had the best experience. You wait out front in the morning to drop off your pet, and they walk you through all of the paper work. Then a text when your pet is finished. Everyone I encountered was warm and kind. They see a lot of animals and unfriendly people throughout the day, yet I witnessed them smile and remain calm through all of it. As for the surgery, it all went so well. She healed really well and it was clean incision. She was really doing well after 5-6 days and I think that’s a testament to the surgeons skill. We will definitely take our future pet needs to this SPCA clinic.

I took my Bengal Kitty to the SPCA mobile unit. I was skeptical at first being a mobile unit and all but they were great! Made me feel at ease and my kitty. Super professional!! Would highly recommend!!

My experience with the lovely folks in the cattery was amazing. They were friendly, helpful, and extremely informative. Any questions or concerns I had, they were able to answer them and did so with kindness. The lady at the front, and I apologize, I don’t mean any offense and I hope this doesn’t come off wrong, but I didn’t catch her name and don’t know how else to relay who it is I’m talking about, but the kind of shorter woman, maybe Pacific Islander? one, who works with the adoption side, she is heavenly. She was beyond sweet each time I’ve been up to the shelter. She takes her time and doesn’t make you feel rushed. She explains everything thoroughly and ensures you can understand. She’s the one to help you with the microchip information and everything else. She was beyond kind, provided me with lots of information, kitten food, toys, etc. The adoption process isn’t too lengthy. They do try to pair you with an animal to ensure a forever home and not an adoption “failure.” So if an animal doesn’t do well with small children and you have them, don’t expect them to change policy and allow the adoption to take place. Just read each animals placard and see whether they fit your home life and proceed from there. The shelter is clean. The staff is friendly. The cattery has many kitties to choose from, from little kittens to adorable seniors. My entire adoption fee was $165, which is honestly pretty cheap for a fully vaccinated, spayed kitten. 10/10 would recommend. And what’s a review on a shelter without cute animal pics of the little one they adopted to you? Here’s my baby. Though she has a few more days in her cone, she is extremely loving. Just a tiny ball of delight. The whole family is just in love with her. She is a cuddle monster, though you can find her sleeping anywhere; from the middle of the laundry room floor to a windowsill to the couch, your pillow, wherever.

The intake person was the best! Very informative and very cheerful. You can tell she cares about animals like they're her own. Wonderful experience... as wonderful as it could be given my kitty was being neutered. Definitely recommend.

The staff are extremely helpful and courteous. Lacey and Lyndsay made the adoption process very quick and easy. With their help we adopted our new fur baby.

The doctors and assistants at the Virginia Beach SPCA are the most professional and caring people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. For decades I have taken my cats to them for spay and neuter procedures and for treatments of illnesses. I wouldn't trust my beloved cats with any other veterinary services in the city. I praise them highly for their care and concern for both me and my cats.
