Save your time, money, and dogs life. One star is simply to good for you. You deserve 0 stars and if anyone looking at this review so much as LIKES their dog, they will find an actual vet not these homeless people they picked up off the street that have no experience with dogs. They have been nothing but liars (I’m sure I’ve not been the only one sucked in by the “discount” for spaying in a puppy) Fact is when you show up for the spaying you actually owe double the agreed upon price and the other option is to wait until the dog is over 1 years old (when the price of spaying goes way up) there is an actually INSANE amount more of instances but please, please I am begging you. If you so much as LIKE your dog even just a little bit, do not go here. Please find an actual vet that knows what a dog is and how to handle issues. Please please please let me be the warning for everyone trying to find a new vet. Please find a different vet because your animals deserved to actually be cared for.

I’ve brought my dog to this location for almost 4 years without problem. I apparently somehow lucked out and every time I brought him he saw one of the traveling vets and not the main vet a Dr. Gibbs..until today. When I went to pick him up she explained that his heart worm medication was too low of a dose. I told her I was aware I had already discussed it with the assistant when I brought him in and since it wasn’t in my plan for an updated heartworm test till September I would have had to pay out of pocket. Due to the cost we decided to wait. She kept pushing it anyways in a what I can only assume was an attempt to make me feel guilty and pay for it right then and there. After once again saying I understood she proceeded to give me an almost snarky look and shrugged and said ok in a it’s your funeral type of way. She left to go get my dog and then practically yelled for the entire back to here..couldn’t even wait for the door to close behind her..to tell everyone “she knows and doesnt care (about her dog)”. When the assistant brought my dog out I asked that it be made a note in my chart to not schedule me with her again. As I had never had an interaction prior to today I was under the impression that all the other vets I had seen worked at this location all the time. The front desk staff then went and told Dr Gibbs who came back out tail tucked and was suddenly so respectful and calling me ma’am trying to apologize for being rude. I told her I heard her and that no I would feel more comfortable with a different vet. It was highly disrespectful and unprofessional behavior. While I love the rest of the staff, her being the main vet at this location I wouldn’t recommended it! Landstown commons is the home base for the vet my dog normally sees so I would recommend that location instead! Its sad it only takes one bad seed to sour a person away from an entire location!

VET STAFF LET MY DOG GET HIT BY A CAR! The Banfield Hospital Staff PROPPED the EMERGENCY DOOR OPEN where ALL the kennels are stored, just off of VB Blvd. They wanted to easily walk dogs. They didn’t lock Boone’s kennel that day. My dog was there for a checkup and NOW HE IS DEAD due to the negligence of this staff. Our hearts are broken. Please reply with any ideas to help prevent this from happening to anyone’s pet in the future.

I don’t even bring my dog to you guys anymore. Y’all send out these text stating if you love your per give us a review or if you enjoyed your visit. I love my dog but banfield has a stigma for pit bulls! My dog is a lab/pit nix and got no live as he got older. He needed medication and it always took forever to hear back from your team. I tried a different location, advise them my dog don’t like the blower when he gets a barh and they used it . My niece has a full blown pit sweetest dog and they treated her amore wrong too. So umm please take me off your call list, your text list your email list. #pitsneedluv2

There were notes on our account not to put our cat in a kennel, they did anyway. Our cat freaked out to the point where the vet at the Haygood location, Dr. Gibbs, didn’t even want to pull him out. Meanwhile during the episode the receptionist, Crystal, recorded our cat in terror and fear because it was “funny to see a cat” react that way “like a dog”. We called around to other vets, but wouldn’t be seen quickly for our other cat and reluctantly brought our other cat the following week for follow up shots she needed. The receptionist, Crystal, offered me the video of my cat in fear from the previous week. Then Crystal and Dr. Gibbs overdosed my cat on Benadryl because “mistakes happen”. (Yes, all of these quotes are things that were said directly to me from Crystal) They gave her 1.4 MiL of Benadryl, instead of .14 MiL. After 3 ER visits, IV’s to flush her system, my cat is okay now. But ALL ER vets agreed Benadryl should not have been necessary for my cat’s shots to begin with. (Just something to upcharge me) Including another ER vet at banfield Norfolk location. That vet, Nikita, was the only saving grace and probably the reason my cat is okay today. Dr. Gibbs and Crystal still have their jobs. We are still awaiting the accounting department to refund us for the last ER visit. The Newport News chief of medical staff stated we could reach her from any location, and was as apologetic as she could be in the situation but cannot reach her regarding the refund. Did get to talk to Crystal again though, she informed my husband Dr. Ramirez(NN chief of staff) doesn’t just work out of an office and “isn’t reachable like that”. The Haygood manager called back later that day to say they can’t do anything, they have to wait on the accounting department. Our cat was overdosed, we had to pay for it, and everyone gets to keep their job. Can’t sue, because in the state of VA we’d just be shoving out money for the process. We just want the refund and to be done with banfield. Update: the refund check is in the mail today. Glad to be done with banfield
