The entire staff was excellent. I took a rescue dog I was fostering in for a checkup and antibiotics. He's a large scary-looking Dutch Shepherd who doesn't meet strangers nicely. They managed him very well and made it very easy.
This is response to A.W. I am truly sorry Tawny is sick and it hurts my heart. I know you are angry your new baby is sick. You made several statements that sounded like they came from me and are simply not the truth. I am the founder and director of Dogs 2nd Chance and I would like to clarify: I spoke and texted with you several times May 8th. I advised you to take Tawny to Northgate to be tested and given medication if needed. You refused. I offered to pay your expenses at your vet due to the fact you had only had her a few days and I have no idea where Tawny was exposed. She was at a public event with other dogs visiting [where you met her] 2 days before her surgery. Not because I knew she was exposed at the vet. You were VERY generous by paying almost 1/2 of the bill. Thank You! You stated no one was informed about the parvo being in the clinic the day of sugery. 1st I would NEVER use the word "outbreak". I was informed almost immediately when 6 puppies came in the day of Tawny and Lexi's surgery. Those puppies were put in an isolation area and did test positvie for parvo. I know their procedure and trust the staff to follow protocol. I did immediately inform the director of the other rescue where Tawny and her siblings came from and another pup's foster Mom that "Northgate has parvo in the house". I assumed the director told Tawny's foster too. I forced no one to keep the pups there. If they had concerns they could have picked them up and rescheduled. Dogs 2nd Chance policy is to spay or neuter all dogs and puppies before adoption or with puppies by 7 months old with a signed spay/neuter agreement. We do this to stop unwanted or even intentional pregnancies. We will make exceptions for illness and old age. We also make exceptions IF the adopter objects and we have verbal or written advice from the adopter's Veterinarian. Tawny's spay was scheduled before the festival where you met her. You were told she was being spayed on the following Monday. She turned 15 weeks the day before her surgery which is not uncommon age for a spay.. If you had objections about her age and size I would have gladly discussed with you. I am not medically educated to address the antibiotcs and spays, but in 18 years of rescue and close to 1,500 dogs and puppies altered by many veterinarians, I have never been given antibiotics. Tawny and Lexi going home without "cones of shame" is my fault. I did not specify for them to get them. Again I am sorry for Tawny, you and your family. I am sorry for any confusion dealing with 2 rescue groups' fosters and directors. I am sorry for the parvo but they could have gotten it at the fesitval not the clinic But you are made many derogatory statements about a very compasssonate and well educated veterinarian and her clinic. I wish you would apologise since you said many things before know the fact. Tracy Gullett and Staff I apologise for anyone affiliated with Dogs 2nd Chance and myself for any misunderstanding causing A.W.'s review
The staff worked hard explaining a procedure being done on my cat. They told me how wonderful she did and were loving towards all the animals.
I adopted a puppy and the foster group took her here to get shots and spay. Problem though, they spayed her at 14 weeks. She is a large dog breed and this is very likely to cause her to have hip dysplasia and other growth issues throughout her life. They also didn't provide any antibiotics or other necessary medical items to prevent issues associated with spay. It seems these "vets" don't know what they are doing or care about the possibilities of consequences of their actions. A bunch of POSs. They need to be shutdown. I will not be using them and going to my vet of 15 years. Reply to Business 5-8-24: Despite your study provided, I have addressed this with the rescue. It was your veterinarian's recommendation to spay her. It was also your animal hospital that failed to report a Parvo outbreak amongst puppies during her stay that led to my baby now having to be treated for and suffering from Parvo. This information was only told to the rescue yesterday which was too late. Needless to say you best keep your smart remarks about "studies" to yourself as we all know studies can be found to back up almost any argument or side taken. Not to mention most are bought and paid for by those that benefit from them. It's your care that is in question.
Dr Gullett is an amazing vet! I trust her judgement explicitly with all my dogs no matter what the diagnosis. She and her staff care deeply about each individual animal. I have gone to her for years. If you have to wait a while it only means she is desperately trying to save a life. She is truly dedicated to her profession, and I will continue to drive 3 hours so she and her staff can care for my pups! She recently saved Wiley’s life!!!! ❤️
I love Dr. Guilett and her staff. I've been with her for years. My 1st encounter was with her when she was on Millington road. Now she's off Thomas Street and still treating my babies.
