I hate having to write this but I wanted to share what I wish I knew a year ago. Pros: 1. Great location 2. Property maintenance man is very proactive and nice 3. Good neighbors so far Cons 1. The building is unsafe and unsanitary. The front door to the building works about 50% of the time on a good day. Meaning anyone off the street has access to the entire building including the mail room (that door also has similar issues). The front doors issues are worse in winter. 2. Mail is stolen on a weekly basis because of the malfunctioning doors. So I wouldn’t live here unless you never get anything mailed to you. 3. There is a rodent infestation. Unless you love mice and rats, don’t rent here! You might wonder what Rent Ivys response to these issues are? So far it’s mostly been silence. If you’re “lucky” to get a response it’s either denial or blaming you for the building’s issues. The only way to get anyone to respond is by withholding rent. Obviously to normal, well adjusted adults this is an unnecessarily complicated way to do business but Rent Ivy managers (especially Kenneth Dixon) either don’t know how to engage with residents in an effective way or frankly, live for the drama. An example: I was locked out of the building because the front door lock broke (again!) and Rent Ivy/Kenneth Dixon took over 24 hours to respond! Had they not ignored my previous email notifying them I wasn’t in the electronic directory this could have been avoided but that would be way too easy! If you want to live in Hyde Park I suggest avoiding Rent Ivy at all costs.
Very noise on the corner building you get woke up at all times of the day and night. The management company employees are not knowledgeable about anything that pertains to the building so please don’t ask any questions. Hyde park property management is now known as IVY so don’t be fooled but they don’t like to fix any repairs but they will want their very expensive rent money. My foot almost went into the lifted floor openings several times.I was informed before I moved into the building that tenants will have access to the elevators but they finally got fixed 2 years later but the only people with access to them are the employees. I also got towed in the back of unit when I pay for monthly parking because they forgot to issue me a parking sticker for the window.
If I was about to get eaten by a bear I’d be lunch right now. I’ve tried to call before 3 o’clock about an injured bird and I’ve been shifted to terminex and other services and this company will not pick up the phone. It said that they close at 4pm
