LIARS! We took 4 kittens and a mama cat that we had helped find homes for adoption via a now deleted facebook page called The Lucky Crew to animal services after we were told they would be held until they were retrieved by their new owners. Instead, we saw on their website that they were classified as "semi-feral" even though they had been socialized for 8 weeks to be adopted. The kittens' names are Soots (all black cat), Smokey (Grey-black tabby), Ozzie (Tawny and Grey with spots), and Snowball (White with black and brown spots). Mama cat, Lucky, was the only one we specifically requested to be put into the working-cat program. Instead, these LIARS turned away the people that we had specifically vetted to adopt these kittens and LAZILY threw them into the same program, claiming they were semi-feral! DISORGANIZED, UNCARING, DISHONEST PEOPLE. If you care about animals, find a no-kill shelter that is passionate about the lives they care for, because you won't find that here.
If you want a dog or cat, PLEASE ADOPT! There's such a difference in their personalities because they know that you're their knight in shining armor! Indi is the best dog I have ever had, so chill for a puppy! Very low cost to adopt, they're already fixed, & have their shots, so you can get a lifetime license for only $25! You can spend as little as that $25 too because some animals have been there for a while, so they're actually free! If I had the room, I'd take them all! 🐕🐩🐈⬛🐈
Unfortunately, they were very short handed and I wasn't able to visit with dogs. They had a lot of new dogs but no employees to process them and their information. Nothing at all about the dogs, no name, sex, age, breed or other information. There was poop in a lot of the enclosures. I understand that they are staffed mostly with volunteers and that it is wonderful and understandable. They need many more volunteers!
Like most shelters, ours has many challenges. But they seem to really care about these displaced animals. I was told that as soon as the kind lady, whose son had rescued my dog, turned him in, he was recognized. I had him back before they closed for the day. His brother missed him terribly and they've been next to each other since reuniting. Thank you to the family who cared for Buddy. Thank you to the HAS staff whose diligence returned my furbaby to his brother and me.
I know theyre trying to help but the lady that decides if you get your dog back or not seems to think we have to have a picture of our dog, even after identifying him and he recognizes us. It's like pulling teeth to get your dog back. She didn't really listen, and several times went to her Lil office to come back with a diff excuse, like we don't all have a current vet like a primary care Dr. To show her a vet bill. The whole time a really polite black dude that was there before me never got helped, and that was the lady at the front Lil counter like a restaurant hostess fault. And I believe it was on purpose. He had everything they need to verify his dog. Why do animal services even pick up dogs with tags and collars anyways I can't get them to do anything when a stray comes and is attacking animals in my yard, they said if it belongs to a neighbor they won't pick it up. So 10chickens and 3ducks died that day. But they picked up a harmless elderly hound dog? They could also probably hire a few more people to clean that place, it stinks like 10yrs of dog grime Its possible to clean that, yea they're behind or short handed but hire more people , make more outside space, something, instead they're like a jail for
The staff was so friendly and amazing, I can’t thank them enough! My boyfriend brought me by on my birthday to look for a kitten to keep me company while I work from home. We fell in love with one of their adult cats who looked like she needed a nice home. She’s been with us for about 4 months now and this little grey tabby has us wrapped around her little paw. They have a great program that waives fees for veterans looking to bring home sweet shelter pets! Her fees were waived so she was basically free but you know what they say, money doesn't buy happiness 😉
