Description Founded in 1996, Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of South Florida's largest no-kill animal shelters, providing shelter, medical care and compassion to homeless dogs and cats. APR houses up to 200 cats and 35 dogs while finding homes for about 350 pets per year. Before being adopted, pets are examined by shelter veterinarian and are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for common illnesses and microchipped. To adopt a pet, visit our website to read pet bios and complete an adoption application. A team member will contact you for an appointment to visit our adoption center. To surrender a pet, send an informative e-mail to Info@abandonedpetrescue.org along with a photo. APR can only take in animals when space is available.

After almost 14 amazing years with our sweet Luna girl we had to say goodbye this week. I want to thank Abandoned Pet Rescue for doing what they do because without them we never would have found her. I cant speak on their current services as we haven’t returned since adopting her, but we will never forget the joy and comfort Luna brought to our lives. I know everyone says this about their dog but Luna was truly the best in the entire world. Her passing has left a massive hole in our hearts but i am at peace knowing she is no longer in pain❤️‍🩹🐾🌈

2 years flew by! It was 2 years ago I adopted Zori (now Slaine) and she's still the light of my life. I'm eternally grateful for this rescue for pairing me with my perfect match.

I wanted to volunteer. You are making it very difficult, by filling in long-winded forms. In order to hire a volunteer you need a more personal touch. I work as a freelance chef and a job can pop up at short notice. In your form you have to commit to a certain amount of our on the exact days that I said. I would like to come in daily and walk the dogs, clean their cages and give them love. But it wasn't met to be. I don't know, how you ever get volunteers.

Like someone else already said this place must be a money laundering I felt discriminated from the first moment I’ve walked in. I’ve been dealing with this person called Kara who only gave us attitude, well working in a shelter doesn’t make anyone knowledgeable about pets and of course other humans , in my opinion she should work in construction. Very unprofessional they tried to give us the pet they were thinking it was the right one for us so we ended up not adopting a dog. If you want to adopt a pet go to a real and trustworthy dog shelter

I have been volunteering for this great organization for over 4 years. They do an amazing job of taking care of the animals and finding them the best homes. You will not meet a more dedicated group of volunteers and staff that care deeply about the animals while they wait for their forever homes. If you are thinking of volunteering for an animal shelter, there are many ways you can help here. If you are thinking of adopting a cat or dog, they will help you find your new best friend that fits your lifestyle.

Awesome place. Workers and volunteers were friendly. They have wonderful pets that need a home. Adopt don't shop!
