1 year ago I got my best friend here! She is the absolute love of my life and I’m so thankful I adopted a dog here. The shelter made the adoption process so simple and easy. Before you can take a dog home, they will spay or neuter them, get them all up-to-date on their vaccines, and even send you home with a bag of food and some toys. They even gave me a bed and blanket with her that I still have to this day. She had a little upper respiratory infection and the shelter paid for a follow up visit and treatment for her just in case they missed something as well as a rabies vaccine. The vet care and vaccines alone saved me almost a thousand dollars I would’ve had to spend on a brand new puppy not from the shelter. When I first brought her home, she was very scared and shy, but she opened up and blossomed within three months. I’m not gonna lie, It’s definitely a little bit more work when you get a dog from the shelter given their past, but this is the best dog I’ve ever had and I’ve had dogs my whole life. It’s like she knows that I rescued her! Please adopt and don’t shop.

We visit the humane society of Broward often to check on the dogs and see if they have any dogs we would vibe with. One day we saw a pic of a wonderful pup and had to come down to visit her. We ended up adopting her and it's been a great time. The folks that work here care a great deal about the animals under their watch. I'll recommend this place for sure.

Cannot say enough good things about my experience with adopting a dog. She is a great addition to the family & the process painless, low cost, access to resources and pet insurance really made this better than I could have imagined. Should have done it sooner❣️

I really don’t want to write this, but I feel it should be said after my experience here. I wanted to go in and adopt two guinea pigs. I fell in love with two of the four sisters they had and I was ready to take them home that day. But they told me that they needed to be fixed before they were sent home. I didn’t think anything of it but later on I thought about it and I realize now that it’s very inhumane to neuter or spade any kind of small animal. But that’s what these people did my little Checkers and she died while the surgery was being performed as far as I know. But here’s the sad part about all this the only person who I felt even remotely cared, was the lady at the front doing check-in. No one there seemed to not have a care in the world that a little soul lost her life and who was going to have the best life she could have. All I really wanted was maybe an apology from the vet teach who preformed the very unnecessary surgery on that sweet little guinea pig for her sake. I ended up taking the rest of her sisters home with me because I couldn’t bare them being left there. No compassion. Nothing. They didn’t even offer the buy one get one free since I baught 3 guanine pigs at full price. I would’ve had no problem taking home Caliban or Kephri but if they had to go through that unnecessary surgery to get fixed, I would’ve refused to take one of them home in fear they would of lost their life too. The worker who was doing the adoption started to get an attitude, especially when I brought up the fact Petsmart or any retail chain pet store would never get a hamster or guinea pig fixed. Then she proceeded to tell me otherwise, and said that retail chains do fix their small animals before going home, which is a lie, because it’s cruel and inhumane unless it’s a life-saving procedure. That being said, I’ve never had a problem going to Petsmart or pet supermarket to get a small animal and I wanted to go to the Humane Society and give two guinea pigs a loving home because the pets and retail stores are adopted quickly and I always hear that at rescues they’re not adopted quickly and usually are abandoned by previous owners, so I wanted to give them a nice home and a loving life but was supposed to be a fun and joyful experience turned out to be traumatic I have been in tears since I found out that Checkers lost her life because of these people, be careful getting any kind of small animal from them, they may not survive. R.I.P sweet little Checkers 💔
