I got my guinea pig, Pig here about a week ago and the experience was great! The facility was very clean and comfortable. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They all seemed so excited that Pig had found a new home. Ella was my adoption counselor when I initially went to meet him and placed him on hold. She was super friendly and easy to talk to, she's a great employee!

Clearly this animal shelter doesn't care about their animals as my family were adopting a cat that was abandoned by their owner for 9 months and right when my older sister was about to pick up the cat today, the dane county humane society calls her and says that the owner of the cat wants their cat back eventhough we had already paid for the cat and did the adoption papers. But apparently they have a policy where if the original owner of the pet wants their pet back they'll give it back to them but this owner left their cat at their house alone and abandoned. This cat is honestly so sweet and shy and he's so cute I just can't believe they are just going to give it back to the original owners as when I first saw this cat he was skinny and had a rash on his nose.

Very nice facility that handles much more than dogs & cats. Open to support equestrian and other outdoor animals. Had birds, fish, and many more for adoption. Call or use form online to get time with an animal or two. There are places to sit and wait for your time. Expect a wait as it’s usually busy and volunteer staff is somewhat short handed. You can walk and tour nearly all of the facility and get a closer to the animals. We had no problem with the pet visits. Got to interact with several dogs. We came back the next day to visit again and decide on an adoption. Fees are fairly priced. They go through a lot of questions and numerous paperwork to review. Definitely a great choice.

I went to visit for cat adoption. All staffs were friendly and really helpful. The shelter was clean and organize. However, if you wanna meet the pet you want to adopt in person, you should go very early (especially on weekend) coz the queue was very long (1 queue = almost 1 h). You will definitely find good companions here.

The Dane County Humane Society was very prompt, professional, and friendly toward me and my lost cat. Less than 2 hours after my cat was found by them, they had e-mailed me, and I was on my way to bringing him back home- safe and sound! Thank you!

I would like to bring to your attention the unacceptable experience my family and I had at a local adoption center. As a family with two young children, ages 1 and 5, we felt discriminated against from the moment we entered the adoption room. The staff did not acknowledge us and were hesitant to assist us when we asked to see the cats and kittens. When a staff member finally entered the room with a cat, she seemed uncomfortable around our children and did not greet them. We understand the need for caution, but we did not appreciate her pushy behavior in moving our children away and not allowing them to touch the cat. We were taken aback when she stated that she did not want them to hurt the cat, even though our children did not demonstrate any harmful behavior towards the animal. Moreover, when our one-year-old pointed out that the cat had an eye issue, the staff member yelled at him, which understandably scared him. At that point, we decided to ask the staff member to leave so that we could bond with the cat on our own. She was of no support and did not offer the children any proper techniques but complained they where doing everything wrong. Another staff member then entered the room and explained that they were protective of their animals. However, we found their behavior to be inconsistent given that the center had killed many pit bulls in the past and. Ive seen many other white families with small children in the room without staff so we did not need to be monitored. We asked to speak to a manager, but were given another employee who pretended to be a manager and found their response to be dismissive of our feelings. Then the 1st worker came back to the room as i talked withe the "manager" and informed us that the cat was sick and could not be adopted, which was disappointing and unreal 😳 Overall, the experience left us feeling unwelcome and discriminated against and we believe that the staff's behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful. We hope that this matter can be addressed immediately to ensure that other families do not encounter similar issues in the future. No other families had to have staff sit in the room and watch them.
