Always a great time out with her! Christine knows her stuff, her other workers/volunteers are awesome and we have great laughs! I got to ride Harley (I believe its spelled that way), this time and while he had a little arthritis, we made our way quite well, letting him pick his own pathway. These horses bring a whole new level of love for this animal, on top of the huge amount I had for them already as my favorite animal! Will go again definitely as this was my second time with her!

Absolutely disgusted by what we saw during a tack sale. Dirty waters, manure everywhere.. Drunk founder bragged about drugging horses and they were her “money makers”. Clearly in it for the money…..not to provide proper care for equine. Very sad and should be ashamed. Then on top of all that, she sold an underweight horse, not “adopted” with a fractured pelvis.. He was never seen by a professional nor were the buyers made aware. Unethical and cruel. This is not a reputable rescue. Just someone who flips horses for profit. Volunteers have even reached out for help. That alone says a lot about what’s going on behind the scenes.

Giving desperate horses a home for the last few months or years of their life is the only good thing I can say about this rescue ranch. The owner of the ranch is abusive verbally and physically. She has little to no patience. She'll tell you that you can ride any horse there but many of them are way beyond having the ability to keep you safe on the trail. I looked into buying one of the horses there but then the vet I paid to examine him told me he should not be ridden anymore and he fell down three times through the exam. So I did not buy him per her professional opinion. Recently I found out that 9 months later that horse is still taking sponsors and paying riders out on the mountain. This is not only dangerous for you but also for the horse. I would recommend not stepping foot on this property unless you just want to go and volunteer to clean the stalls for them or drink with the owner any time of the day.

Hello y’all. I was introduced to the ranch rescue going on three months ago. All it took for me to be a sponsor (donations to help feed ) was less than a few hours out there with the people and animals. Every horse taken in gets a full exam, vaccinations, Farrier Inspection and dental care exams. There are approximately 14 horses on the property. Some owned and some for adoption. There is so much more than just riding at the ranch!! Enjoy the full horse experience at Desert Star! Which in tails YES mucking stalls, feeding, grooming helping with general chores at the ranch and exercise of the horses, especially the older ones and those with arthritis or other health issues. Christine is the main contact for the ranch, but there are three others on the property. Everyone at Desert Star are very welcoming and friendly, they are all very knowledgeable even with people who have great knowledge and experience with horses there is always way more to learn. Christine opens her home to all that visit, you definitely become a part of the family when you volunteer and or sponsor the animals. Christine is a straight shooter if she corrects you it may sound stern but when it comes to your safety and the safety of the animal you need to be direct and straightforward there is no in between. I feel blessed to be able to help with all of what is involved to keep the ranch and animals in the best condition they can be. It’s a great reward to me to know I’m helping in all ways possible because the horses need us. I’m so looking forward to the rest of my journey out at Desert Star! Please join me in paying it forward to Gods creation and creatures, they can use all the help we can give them.

Since the first day you walk in Christine and everyone at the ranch make you feel like old time friends. The entire family rides and my 3 yrs old twins love it. The horses are fantastic and well behaved. Currently there are 18 and 1/2 horses. That’s right I said 1/2. There’s a pony here and also goats and chickens. I encourage people to sponsor a horse it really helps not only with the feed but also helps the horses get exercise. Christine may be strict at times but it’s for everyone’s safety. Please come and support Desert Horse Rescue.

I do not recommend this place at all. A few years ago we went to adopt a horse when we got there the owner made our disabled client sign a waiver even though she was physically unable to and we explained it to her. Once waivers were signed she told us to go out back and feed and water the horses. We were confused since we were there to adopt not volunteer. None of the horse had any water or if they did it was covered in slim and thick with dirt. The owner came out and we asked about a horse which she told us the price ans it was very high and you could tell the horse was very sick. She took us to the back part of the rescue and one of the girls we were with if she planned on riding which she responded no too. The owner the preceded to make comments on her weight and we kept telling her she’s being rude and that she already said she isn’t riding them. She kept going to we turned around and left. Once gone she continues texting and calling and saying how the girl was fat and she wouldn’t adopt to us. I blocked her. The owner is was rude and unprofessional and the horse were in rough shape. After speaking with a few people they all had similar experiences. Beware of this place
