Description "Each VCA hospital has health and safety protocols in place based on health care best practices as well as state and local guidance and regulations."
We were a part of VCA Lawrence for over 7 years with our sweet pup Ava, who had so many medical needs. The staff were always kind and caring and loved her so much. Dr. Farquhar was amazing to the very end and highly recommend her. Dr. Gera was there at the start with us and we just love the VCA staff.
I went in asking for anxiety medication since some major changes are coming (we need to separate our dogs). As the pet owner, I think I know how my dog will respond… the vet tried “coaching” me on how to train my dog (things I knew and did but did she care to ask - no). Anyone who meets my dog can tell he’s an anxious boy… by the end of the visit I got no anxiety meds and a write up for $1k in work. My question is - do the vets profit or earn commission from this? The vet wasn’t even concerned why I scheduled a visit in the first place. For my other dog, they tried to give her a rabies vaccine when she had one in 2023 (essentially vaccinating my senior dog twice) I know for a fact they have the records from another vet.. so are the people here just incompetent or trying to scam you? I don’t like this clinic but went since it’s my sisters preferred. I’d recommend West Valley Pet Clinic. Don’t take your pets here (VCA) unless you like getting scammed out of your money.
Very disappointed in the clinic. We've been going to VCA facilities for our rescue dog for 4 years. We recently switched to the Lawrence location after the clinic on El Camino was booked solid and needed to get in earlier. Went to the Lawrence location twice, all was good. Until, we reached out for an anxiety prescription renewal that our dog has been on for 4 years and they denied the request! Stating they need to see him first to renew?! They just saw him 6-8 mths ago for his annual, and have his records that go back for years showing VCA has prescribed these meds consistently. They want to charge us more money for a visit just to renew? Ridiculous. We also just moved further out of the area so another "pop in" appointment is a time commitment. Icing on the cake is when we found this out after the pharmacy called and couldn't get ahold of the vet asking why it was denied. So now my dog is dangerously close to being out of his daily anxiety medicine. Let's hope we can find a new vet in time just for a prescription renewal.
My dog’s nose was scratched in our last visit and we received no apology. They didn’t callback when our dog finished treatment and make him stay in the cage for a long time. They asked us to pick up our dog at the back door to avoid other client from seeing this. After this treatment, our dog has bloody diarrhea for 5 days.
They don't share your pet's records properly when you need them. Even the vaccination records were not making sense.
Thank you to Dr. Gera and the techs and staff at VCA Lawrence Animal Hospital. While I had taken my dog Molly to specialists at UC-Davis for various health problems, it was Dr. Gera that diagnosed Molly had Addison's Disease, and literally added years to her life. Addison's Disease is known as the "great pretender," as it masquerades as many other illnesses. Molly had gotten to the point where she was shaking uncontrollably, and I was at wit's end trying to find out how to help her. Once diagnosed with Addison's, Molly responded well to treatment, became playful again, and got her shiny black coat back. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Gera and the team at VCA Lawrence!
