My girlfriend & I have been taking our dog Benji to VCA Lakewood for three years now and they have always treated us great. The friendly staff, empathetic vets, and flexible payment options have made them the BEST vet in Dallas in my opinion. Dr. Dunne & Dr. Kirkpatrick have both helped keep our Benji happy and healthy, & for that we are extremely thankful! Kudos to the entire team at VCA Lakewood, keep up the good work!

I’ve been taking my 3 fur babies to VCA Lakewood for 5.5 years! They’ve saved all 3 of them at different points during those 3 years. My eldest had parvo at 3 months old and she’s now living her best life at 5.5 years old. I can’t say enough positive praise about everyone at this location. The doctors, the vet techs, the front desks, everyone has been so wonderful and amazing and we are so grateful for all of them!

Dr.Kirkpatrick was very reliable! I called with my cat in an emergency/panic state. He did everything to work me into his already busy schedule. He even followed up with me the next day to make sure my cat was on the up and up! Was very pleased with him and his staffs service. My cat was actually more calm than usual in his clinic as well. Picture of him as a happy guy.

Very expensive nail trim - $50. Was happy going here until I saw this unexpected charge. Never expected it to be more than $20 at most. Nail trim and vaccines were done within 10-15 min and the nail trim was worse than what I do at home. We spent more time waiting than doing the visit. I’m surprised and a little disappointed as I had a good experience in previous visits and the actual vet has always been informative I have dropped my rating further. My dog is on a maintenance dose of steroid medication which was refilled by this vet before. He had his annual at this clinic and we needed to refill his maintenance medication, which was always done easily before without them asking for another visit before another annual is due. We recently moved out of the area and needed enough to get us to our next annual checkup after we researched new vets in our area. This request was denied knowing that we wouldn’t be back for our annual there. I do not feel this clinic handles things with care and helped us transition. The doctor we saw really was a disappointment in the end (Dr. Kirkpatrick). We have learned our lesson here and will look for vets that actually care and don’t just drop the ball and ask for another visit when an annual was already done and it is not yet time for another visit. Also these vet visit short for what they are in price - about 10-15 min of time with the vet. With an otherwise healthy dog, basically ends up being 10 minutes visit. For refills of our medication, lab work was recommended but not required at the last fill. Because he has been on it most his life, most vets just look at him and his history and maintain the low dose corticosteroid.

I cannot say enough good things about this place and the people who work here. I was referred to VCA Lakewood by a friend after I adopted my first dog, Frito, from a local shelter. In addition to being an anxious first-time dog mom, we found out Frito isn't a fan of physical exams. Dr. K was so incredibly patient with him and took the time to earn Frito's trust (as much as was possible for someone who has to give him shots). Dr. K was also patient with me and all my questions. He would even follow up with me after our appointments to see how Frito was doing and ask if I had any more questions or concerns. I remember one time Frito was being especially difficult and had to go under anesthesia for a minor procedure and I was such a wreck about it and the fact that I would have to leave him there for a few hours. Within 15 minutes of me leaving, Dr. K called me to let me know Frito was doing well, the procedure went smoothly and he would be looking after him as Frito woke up. It was such a relief. and the costs for everything was more than reasonable! They always made sure I understood the costs upfront and any options that were available before moving forward with any action.

We've been taking our Brownie here since we adopted him three years ago, and we love everyone there!
