Description Since 2001, thousands of dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, pigs, and chickens have been matched and placed in permanent and loving homes. East Lake Pet Orphanage has been connecting people and pets for the mutual enrichment of life by providing medical care, surgical care, a warm place to stay, love, and attention that our team and volunteers pour into every homeless pet that enters through our doors. East Lake Pet Orphanage is a 501(C)(3) non-profit, no-kill shelter in East Dallas. We do not receive any state or city funding, and instead, rely on the support of private donors. We are volunteer driven, and none of our Board of Directors or devoted Veterinarians accepts a salary for the work they do to help the homeless pets.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the cat orphanage, and I must say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The nurses and receptionist were exceptional, but one individual truly stood out - Jeanne. Her warmth, dedication, and genuine love for the cats were evident from the moment I stepped through the door. The level of care provided to the cats was truly commendable. Each cat seemed happy, healthy, and well-loved. The facility itself was clean, spacious, and equipped with everything needed to ensure the well-being of the cats. Jeanne's passion for her work was inspiring. Not only did she provide excellent care to the cats, but she also took the time to educate visitors about responsible pet ownership and the importance of adoption. Overall, my experience at the cat orphanage was nothing short of amazing. I left feeling uplifted and grateful for the dedication of Jeanne and the entire staff. I highly recommend this orphanage to anyone looking to adopt a cat or simply wanting to support a worthy cause.

I adopted my girl Iris here back in 2019 and our most recent puppy Bamm-Bamm as well. Both times were smooth experiences with no issues. Our most recent puppy we were able to apply and adopt in just a couple of days span. The staff is always friendly and treat all my pets with love and kindness every time we are there.

East Lake is the best place to volunteer and/or adopt! I recently adopted Banks (formerly known as Alaska) and the care that ELPO has given me since adopting him has been second to none! All of the staff are genuine, kindhearted people who truly care about their job and all the animals under their care. Including, but definitely not limited to, Juan Maldonado, Juan Carlos, Nelly, Miss Kate, Sarah of course, Kathie, Becca, Elva, Nurse Amber, and the rest of Dr. Flings staff have all been so kind and so supportive for everything! They are the best, I love them!❤️❤️
