Extremely Disappointed and Misled by Dallas Animal Services I am utterly appalled by my experience with Dallas Animal Services. I recently adopted a dog from their shelter, only to discover within days that crucial health information was deliberately withheld from me. Despite following the care instructions provided, my dog began vomiting blood within five days of coming home. A visit to the vet revealed that not only was my dog severely heartworm-positive (a serious condition they described as “minor” over the phone), but he also had lost 11 pounds under their care. This information was never disclosed to me before adoption. To make matters worse, my dog also has kennel cough, a highly contagious respiratory infection that can spread easily to other dogs. This was never mentioned to me, nor was I warned about the risk of transmission. I now have to isolate my dog from other pets to prevent them from becoming sick, which only adds to the emotional and financial strain of this situation. What is even more troubling is that the veterinary notes provided by Dallas Animal Services omitted key details about my dog’s condition, including the kennel cough diagnosis, which suggests intentional misrepresentation and falsification of records. I was not made aware of the full extent of his health issues, and now I am facing significant, unexpected veterinary bills. This is not only financially devastating but emotionally draining, as I was under the impression that I was giving this dog a chance at a happy life, only to discover that I had been manipulated into adopting a severely ill pet. I strongly urge anyone considering adopting from Dallas Animal Services to be aware that they may not be transparent about the health of the animals in their care. This type of dishonesty is how animals end up back in the shelter or on the streets, and it’s incredibly disappointing to see such a lack of true care and responsibility. I am seeking legal action to hold them accountable, and I encourage other potential adopters to ask detailed questions and get full disclosures before committing. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I sincerely hope that this review helps prevent others from facing the same heartache and financial burden.

Got my dog in July, she's one of the sweetest and most silliest dogs I've ever had! My family and I love her so much❤️ Please consider adopting or fostering a pet from DAS, they are so full of dogs than cats.. They have so many to take care of and if you could help take at least one off their hands then that would be great.

Great animal shelter to adopt your pet. The staff is friendly and will help you. There are options to adopt, foster a pet even for a few days, do a Daycation (spend a day with a shelter dog), run with them (D90 Runner). Anyway, I loved visiting and learning more about the wonderful work they do with animals.

Excellent customer service. Everyone was so nice and patient as we chose our cat Isabel -- or rather, she chose us. Please consider fostering or adopting. There are so many wonderful pets that could use a loving home.
