Description Founded in 1873, the SPCA Cincinnati has a long history of service to the Greater Cincinnati community. Originally founded as the Ohio Humane Society, it was the first organization of its kind in Ohio. In 1907, the name was changed to The Hamilton County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and is currently DBA as the SPCA Cincinnati. The SPCA Cincinnati is your hometown Humane Society, and has been since 1873. We are the problem solvers for everything animal-related from pet adoptions to vaccination clinics. We provide care for any animals that come to the shelter: food, medical needs, exercise, enrichment, and affection to get them ready to go to their new homes.

After the loss of my husband. I went searching for a companion, I found Poppy in 2018 at the SPCA Kemper road Cincinnati. We've been best friends ever since. I believe she was God sent and to be honest, we saved eachother. She's such a good girl.

We’ll always have a soft spot for SPCA for taking care of our Charlie until he entered our lives. A vet before SPCA wanted to put him down and SPCA saved him and took care of him. Thank you guys so much ❤️

I had a kitten I had been caring for and needed to find her a home so I took her to the SPCA in hopes of her finding a good home. I wasn't able to keep her since my cat didn't like her however two young girls saw her and made arrangements to take her so it all worked out.

We adopted Sassy back in January this year. She is definitely a great addition to our family. Her name fits her to the tee. Little sassy but a sweet loving baby. Her greeting -rather it has been only going outside getting something out of your car or coming home from a long day at work, her welcome home greetings is one of many blessings of why we love her so. . She loves long walks, playing fetch and loves her snuggles. As for the SPCA facility..the entire team members are top notch. Awesome facility. Keep up the amazing job in getting all the fur babies adopted to a loving and caring families 💗💗

We visited this place twice. The first time was for a meet and greet with a dog. Unfortunately, we were unaware that the dog had kennel cough. During the introduction between our dog and theirs, they informed us about the illness. Despite not adopting the dog we met, our dog still contracted kennel cough. I revisited the shelter to spend time with a couple of the smaller dogs independently. They advised me that the dog I was interested in had recently undergone surgery and was being treated for a skin condition, but was otherwise healthy and sent home with medication. Upon arriving home, the dog started vomiting and displayed aggression towards our very sweet gentle dog. Despite giving the prescribed medication, the vomiting persisted. The next day, when I contacted the SPCA, I encountered a very impolite lady who seemed dismissive of my concerns. When I tried calling throughout the day for updates, no one answered, causing me significant worry, especially as the dog vomited in the car on the way there. The intake staff, however, were compassionate and understanding, assuring me that the dog would be closely monitored for two weeks due to health issues. They also mentioned the unfriendly receptionist with numerous complaints against her. To my surprise, when I called today to check on the dog, I was informed that he had already been adopted, contrary to what I had been told about the two-week observation period. It appears that the welfare of the animals and potential adopters is not a priority at this facility. It is crucial that an investigation be conducted to address these concerns and replace the current staff with individuals who prioritize the well-being of the animals and those who adopt them.

We just adopted our first sweet baby here. We could not be happier with our experience. Emma was absolutely phenomenal with helping us and get all the info we needed!!!
