I looked at the reviews on this place and adopted from here so I would like to give a genuine review. I see too many negative ones that I am convinced there is more to the story than what the angry one stars show. I guess you cannot please everyone. I adopted a gorgeous dilute tortoiseshell cat named Chloe— I think in February. She seemed extremely shy and overwhelmed when I went to meet her. She is an emotional support animal now. She is my companion. She is still quiet most of the time, though she can get vocal when she is not by my side and I am home. She cuddles all the time. She absolutely loves laying across my chest. Trust me when I say she is absolutely wonderful. She's a queen and others who have come over adore her. She came a little chubby but she has been on a diet and maintaining it. When you see the pictures I post please do not think I am over-feeding her. My adoption process was smooth despite a lack of volunteers and a person being out at the time I inquired. Their communication was excellent. Any person willing to read their website will know that you meet the animals by appointment. You cannot just show up and demand to see them. You do not get to walk away with an animal first visit. The building is not marked to reduce random drop offs. You can tell that they care about their animals. They gave her a good brand of food when she was there, though I elected to switch her to a wet food after doing my diligent research. They gave advice on how to help her adjust and a few cheap small toys to keep her occupied. It was my first time since childhood owning a cat so I did not know to bring a towel with the carrier, so they provided one. Lois and her husband are absolutely amazing. They were also good at keeping conversation.
I have been volunteering here since I was in sixth grade (now a sophomore in college) and it has been the most influential experience of my life to this day. It has taught me commitment, hardwork, and reliability to not only my fellow volunteers, but the cats we care for. I know each and every animal in the shelter is loved and looked after every day of every year. Volunteers sacrifice their holidays, anniversaries, and even birthdays to make sure the animals get the proper care they need and deserve. You will not find a more devoted and inspiring core volunteer base anywhere else. If you are looking to get involved and help your community, looking to go into veterinary or animal sciences (like me), or just looking to care for some cats, I cannot express a better place to get hands on, relevant experience while surrounded by loving cuddly pets.
Wonderful place and nice people! The place is almost like a wonderland for cats. Do pay attention, appointment is needed to come in! (In my opinion this is similar to a busy cat cafe of which appointments become handy) It took A LOT of time and effort to ensure the space is sanitized and kitties are happy and healthy. All fluffs are so sweet!!! The ones with disabilities have never lost their faith in humans. Would definitely go back and volunteer❤️
Horrible experience. Was interested in a dog. Foster parent came to our house to show us the dog. He was not interested in anything about us, just his own, "sorry not a good fit.". Asked zero questions about us and our background, seemed to be looking for reasons to keep the dog. I am guessing he is keeping the puppy for himself as he did not even try to work it out. He really gives adopting a rescue a bad name. Left my kids in tears. We have had dogs for many many years and are proud of the work we do with them. We have never surrendered a dog or cat and keep and take care of them until the end. Not sure what else one could want in adopting stray dogs. I am a huge dog lover, have had dogs my entire life, and this horrific experience is leading me to warn others to stay away from HART. Steer clear.
Lois and Laura were the people I dealt with for a dog named Tracey who i'm told was a stray . She's pretty much has settled in her new home with me whom I'm greatfu l for having. Thank you ladies ❤
I showed up at this location after hours, hence the reason I could not give them five stars because I wasn't able to go inside. I did speak with two more mature adults then I assume were probably the founders, but I did not clarify that. I can't say that they were genuinely attempting to help giving me useful advice on finding my dog . The location is somewhat cumbersome to locate the really need a bigger more noticeable sign at this author's opinion. But if you're headed away from sharonville there on the right hand side in a building that looks more like it used to be perhaps a doctor's office or something of the sort on the right hand side. Since I wasn't able to go inside or really weren't any further information I do plan to go back and then I will post a more detailed description and review.
