If you're out on the street. Need shelter for the tough months in Albany oregon. It is a great place to rest your head. It is great a well-balanced 3 meals a day. Shower! They value you and your opinions 💯. They are there to help if you're ready to help yourself and get clean . They have been through what you are going through. Even if they have not walked in your shoes. And they understand that. They will listen to you and try to help in every way they can.
Nice shelter that has easy intake and no drug test like Albany helping hands does. Gives ya a bed and let's ya sleep warmly. Only been in low barrier dorm so have to take all belongings with ya during day which sucks cuz carrying a duffle bag and 2 backpacks around town isn't easy. Hopefully can get into regular dorm sometime soon and hope they let stuff stay during day once in room.
Second chance albany is a shelter like most. Either way the good and bad, it's a shelter from the cold. It's better than freezing to death rite!? Some ppl are wishing for something like this. So don't be ungrateful is all I'm saying.
Don't like them since everyone I know who has stayed with them including me seen that drugs are around and used here indoors so you could get high staying there, and they have kids there also. Therefore I guess if you want to get high for free and robbed while sleeping go ahead and join them. I know this town has empty houses so those who don't do drugs should be able to open and run another shelter like me and my fiance for instance, because no one in our rehab home/shelter would have to worry about being robbed or getting high by the person next to you smoking their drugs. And yes I was robbed by the people staying there so they could pawn or sell it and get more drugs.
I have lived here for 6 months with my family. I'm very grateful for John Phelps and the help he has given my family. The dorm is warm for my kids, there is breakfast, lunch, and dinner served every single day, even the weekends. They provide laundry services to where I can get my laundry done once a week. I have daily access to a shower and a private bathroom. The woman and men are in separated dorms. The dorm manager provides toilet paper and paper towels for the bathroom. You get case management while your living here...it's actually really nice...not to mention the other resources that they have helped me with..
Friendly, helpful staff. Good place to go when you have nowhere else to go.
