We have been bringing all of our pets here for 10 years (even driving from Salem after relocation to do so) because we appreciated the quality of care we received, and will never go back or recommend them again. Following the loss of a puppy we had recently brought in, we made the decision to end our relationship with Albany Animal Hospital. This was a result of a vet tech bringing up a concern about our puppy to the vet, who disregarded the comment; Turns out, the concern the vet tech had was legitimate, and it contributed significantly to the reason(s) we lost our puppy. We wanted nothing more than to cut ties with AAH after this experience and just make sure that they knew why. After taking our puppy to an ER vet (less than two weeks after a check up with AAH), we were forced to make the decision to euthanize him or surrender him to one of the ER vets who thought she had a slim chance of saving him utilizing her own resources. The chances of survival even with her were very low, and we (including our 9-year-old son) have processed this loss as a death because we are not entitled or privy to any information about what happened to him after we attempted to give him the best chance we could. My husband called and cancelled all of our scheduled appointments, and explained to office staff that we were ending the relationship due to the loss of our puppy and the recent care he received at AAH. Office staff let him know that they would be having an Office Manager contact him later. We weren’t sure why this call was happening. This evening he received a call from the Office Manager and Dr. Fletcher on speaker phone, where they attempted to “fact check” him and combat statements that he made to office staff over the loss of our puppy. They spoke first about information they had gathered, then asked questions after, only providing any sort of apology or compassion after asking my husband to explain himself. This call seemed like a defensive and very unnecessary attempt to save face or protect the hospital from liability of some sort, and they genuinely should not have even bothered calling us back. This phone call is the only reason I am even bothering with a review, as it lacked the compassion or empathy that one might expect from the traumatic LOSS (yes, a medical surrender is still a loss) of an animal.
Dr Fletcher and his team are amazing! They have been our animal care team for 20+ years. Recently our Cane Corso was spayed and had her stomach tacked. She was well taken care of and is doing great. We love these caring people!
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They took great care of my cat. He is doing so well now. I definitely recommend Dr. Fletcher and his clinic.
Dr Fletcher is great! So empathetic and accommodating. He cares about the people as much as the pets and goes out of his way every time to help us and our pets. We have been coming to Dr Fletcher for over a decade. We trust him with our furry children!
I have taken my dogs and cats to Dr Fletcher for 18 yrs now. He is great with my animals, and explains everything clearly. He figured out why one of my dogs kept getting hotspots, and why another kept getting ear infections. He treated another of my dogs for cancer twice,(2 diff kinds) and she lived to be 16ys old. I highly recommend him.
We've been going to this animal hospital for about 29 years, and I have to travel out of town to get there, but it's worth it to know my pets are getting the best care possible from Dr. Fletcher and his staff. They have taken care of everything that has come along with lifelong conditions, emergencies, routine visits and the sad but occasional, end of life events. All with the grace and caring of people who care about you and our pet's needs. Recommending 10 stars if I could.
