Description Individuals from all over New York City come to Animal Care Centers every day of the week for reasons as diverse as reclaiming lost pets, adopting new furry family members and getting resources to help them keep their pets in homes. We strive to find loving homes for homeless and abandoned cats, dogs, and rabbits, both by adopting animals directly to the public and by partnering with more than 200 dedicated animal placement organizations (our New Hope partners). Our animal rescue team division responds to calls from the public to help keep NYC communities safe and rescue animals in need, and we have facilities in all five boroughs. Join us in our mission to end animal homelessness in NYC!

I went here just to browse didn’t expect I’d go home with a sweet, calm, super gentle and cute affectionate cat. Her name was Aardo but I named her Ashy. She’s super soft. An associate named Jean helped me with the process. She’s very kind, polite, patient and thorough with explaining. Ashy, who is super spoiled now, she only meows when she’s hungry lol. She’s potty trained and very calm and friendly. At first she was super sweet and rolls over to be tickled. 2nd night she’s at home she slept in my bed and wants to snuggle and always holding on to my arms and glued her body to mine. She’s clingy but lately she’s been sleeping and hiding. I noticed the sneezing on the first night but ignored it. Days past her mouth starts to drool on side but clear. I emailed NYACC to ask for suggestions for my concern. I got a response back after the new year. I’m still on trial adoption for Ashy/Aardo still hesitant wether to keep or not. I feel bad she’s sick and breathing through her mouth. I tried doing what I was told to do. Just hoping she will become better in few days! Hope she recovers fast.
Hello, here are some recent photos of potato as a update on how he is doing. He is adjusting very well with us and we are very exited to have him being apart of this family!
We pick up Jose 2 months ago it was easy and economical the fee we paid covered his nutering
I adopted my kitten, Cookie, from here and they were absolutely lovely, really helped me out, and made sure all new owners attended a group meeting for our animals! Cookie was only in the shelter for 3 days before I adopted her! Update 02/10/23 : I adopted her 8 months ago and she's still the sweetest. They had warned me that she may be shy or scared and she had passed issues with hissing. At this point she's a cuddle bug who sleeps with me every night, she's incredibly smart, and I've almost never heard her hiss. We were patient with her, as you need to be with all pets, but I'm glad she's adjusted so well with the other cats at home. My partner recently decided to adopt a kitten after their cat had passed and I could not be more excited for Cookie to have a new friend from the same shelter as her. Staff was super sweet as always, gave us recommendations for which cats would best fit into our home and we pick up his new little love later today. 💕 Update: 3/12/24 We ended up with a third cat from here in September of 2023 and we could not be happier with these three!
The experience of adopting a kitten for my son couldn't have been better. The staff was super nice and caring. Tash was great , took the time to explain everything about Chase.
A + staff at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. They made the adoption of our new dog Rocky go very smooth. They have a lot of compassion for the animals under their care.
