Description "The Austin Humane Society is Austin's oldest no-kill animal shelter specializing in adoptions and serving over 11,000 cats and dogs each year."
Thanks to all the workers and sponsors of this wonderful shelter! Today, our family found a best friend ever and companion who makes us happier every minute. Amazing staff, great animal facilities, staff to help make the adoption process easy, plus you get coupons and discounts at local pet stores. Everything is as accessible and understandable as possible. I will definitely be going back there soon for another kitten. Thank you for this incredible work that you guys do every day, you are unbelievably cool!!!
Since I live alone in a new home in Manor, I wanted to find a kitty. When I went to this location, they had a bunch of small cages full of kittens. I noticed one cage that had two kittens. They told me they couldn’t be separated due to being brothers. I picked them. They put me in a small room with those two babies and they were in play mode. I told the staff I would take them and give them a forever home. Nearly a year later, they bring me so much joy and laughter. Their given names are Blaze and Ash but I affectionately refer to them as Knuckle and Head. Their names are interchangeable of course.
My partner and I adopted our first cat here in 2022, he will be 2 at the end of April! Our Mojo Felix Cortez (mojito) is our best friend and he loves to play and nap in the sun! We will be back for a second cat soon enough but I love Austin Humane Society so much, the pets are very well taken care of and the staff is always so friendly! I fell in love with him on the website (his name was popcorn at the time) and I immediately had to go see him, the next day he came home with me and we love him dearly. Thank you AHS!
My favorite pet rescue in Austin. I’ve adopted two kitties from here and it was the best experience. We also always donate pet stuff here. I love this place and the people who run it!
I adopted both of my pups here! The staff is friendly and competent, and they take such good care of their animals!! They make the process simple, all you have to do is fill out an application (online or in person), go visit a couple of dogs (they have areas to meet and play with them), and then adopt. Plus you always walk out of there with free merchandise from local Austin businesses (I got a Deep Eddy Vodka today) and lots of treats!
Adopted my cat Callie from here! (previously named Brenda). She was 3 years old when I adopted her and was already super friendly and well trained. I definitely recommend adopting an adult cat. She was a great friend and grad school roommate for me, and since she was an adult, it was already obvious how friendly her personality was when I adopted her. Austin Humane Society staff was also very helpful in finding a pet that would match my lifestyle and personality
