Long lines, but adopted my pup with no issues and received some freebies. Staff was very helpful, patient, and friendly volunteers did an amazing job as well. I loved seeing the different dogs get play time it was a joy to watch. Love my new family member he's awesome!
After reading a news article about intake being closed due to overcrowding, I knew it was time for me to finally act on a long time thought to adopt. I’m single, live alone in a very small apartment, and work quite a bit so I was looking for an older, calm, low maintenance dog that would match my lifestyle. And I can’t believe how lucky I got! The team at Austin Animal Center was invaluable in helping me through the process! My new baby has been such a blessing, and her previous owner (who passed away) really trained her well and must have loved her a lot. She is PERFECT! And I owe a lifetime of thanks to the staff and volunteers at Austin Animal Center!
I brought a stray cat that i found in, they sheltered her and took care of her while they contacted the owner of the microchip. After a few days the owner surrendered her & i was able to come adopt her that Monday first thing in the morning. The center let me have first dibs as the finder, and were super supportive with the whole process. I can tell they just want the animals to go to a good home. The shelter looks more like a fun daycare or school campus, i’ve never been in a shelter but it was much better than i expected. They rang a bell to celebrate as i walked out with lily and adopted my first pet! Lily is my best friend and i will be adopting from here if i get any more pets.
It was very easy to adopt a dog. At the time.we adopted there was no charge at all, not even for spaying or chipping or for vaccinations. The staff was very helpful in helping us find a good dog for our family. We were able to bring our existing dogs by for a meet and greet. After finding a good match ,we were able to take our new pup home the next day. We were very happy with the overall experience.
Some volunteers are very and helpful and some others think that this is a shop which is not how we want to see it! We got our two cute kittens from there brother and sister and now they are super happy! NB : our kittens had mite when we got them .. make sure to treat your cat since they keep changing cage, changing towels etc ..
We adopted this handsome 1yr-old prince and couldnt be happier. The center gets busy on weekends, but they really do there best to keep the lines moving, and really take their time to make sure you have the right buddy for your home
