Description "Austin Wildlife Rescue rehabilitates and releases orphaned, injured, and sick wild animal and educates the public to coexist with wildlife."
What a cool place! They do great work. They were quick to help and told me how they were going to take care of the birdie with the broken leg that I found. So glad I made the treck across town to take the little guy there. I also got to see them take in a baby possum and got pictures. I made the suggested donation bc I feel that they do a great service. I saw several other people bringing in animals in boxes, bowls, and bags. They help over 9000 animals a year! Make sure to go to their website to find out what to do if you find an injured animal. Above all, do not try to feed them!!
Found a squirrel on the trail that had lost mobility in its back legs. The folks at Austin Wildlife Rescue took him for me, and were so kind and clearly passionate. It makes my heart swell that we have an organization that cares about our smallest critters and wildlife. Keep on keepin’ on, y’all. 🤘🏼
I haven’t taken any wildlife here but when I have any questions about anything I find they always have some solid info for me. Makes me feel at ease when I’m stressed looking for help. One example below this little guy was headed towards the roadway in between canals. I called and they simply told me to place him in the direction he was going across the street. They’ve helped me with my baby bunny questions (I have so many in my yard) 😫 Thank you for all the help!
Keep in mind while driving there the turn you have to make is very unclear with no signs, so I passed it and had to make an illegal U-turn to get there as soon as possible. Found a tiny baby rabbit in the backyard half alive. He was grasping for air with his mouth. I looked up online immediately animal rescues, and found this one, once called a nice lady to told me to just bring in the animal in, I jumped in the car and immediately did, driving 25 minutes from my home. I wish there was something a bit closer as when I was driving I was praying that the baby rabbit makes it before I reach the place. The young lady, who took the rabbit in was very nice and she explained to me what’s gonna happen later. I feel very grateful that there are such organizations as this one to take care of the ones that really need help. Thank you very much for being out there.
Brought in 3 motherless baby Whistling Ducks who needed help. Staff was awesome, and compassionate. My family loves the work they do. I know these three babies have an awesome chance to live, to grow and thrive now. Bless these guys and all they do.
So glad and thankful to have this collection center here to save the wildlife. Found a bird stuck on sticky pad and struggling to survive. And thanks to Austin Dog Shelter receptionist’s advise and we found this center. The staff is kind and nice, took care of the bird, told us it is fine and they will take care of it. Do give donation to the center to help them facilitate if you can. It’s wonderful to save life. Note* when you are driving in the E. MLK blvd, immediately after the second traffic light. Watch out for a church on your Right, followed by you see a white mail box size written 5401, and is a very narrowed lane for you to turn left in. Once missed have to make a U-turn.
