I came yesterday with my family to put my sweet boy tank down. The staff was very nice, patient, and understanding. They walked us through everything, let us know exactly what was happening as it was happening, and even let us stamp his paw print. When the kit I brought didn’t work they took it into their own hands and got me a paw print, nose print and some fur clippings. They are amazing!
This office saved my cat’s life. He was blocked and could not urinate. They unblocked him and kept him for a a day or two. Unfortunately, he blocked again shortly after he went home and they fixed that as well, but he ultimately needed PU surgery to make it easier for him to pee. This was a very stressful time in our lives because I was due with my first baby a month or two after he first blocked. We also live 50 minutes away, so it was hard going back and forth so many times. The staff were very kind and helpful as pregnancy hormones had me even more emotional in an already difficult situation. Diane at the front desk stands out in my mind as a very kind-hearted woman. The specialist, who did my cat’s surgery, Dr. Sonja Szymeczek, also did a great job of explaining the procedure, risks involved, and how to try and prevent related problems in the future. We brought my cat back for a follow up thinking he might’ve messed up his incision, and the vet came out into the waiting room with her tech to get us, which I thought was really sweet and showed she cared. The facility itself is very nice. The waiting room is modern and calming. We went in the back to visit my cat before his surgery, and I could tell they had the latest and greatest machinery. They also did a good job of giving us updates throughout the several nights he stayed in the hospital. My baby is 3 months old now, and I am so grateful to have my favorite kitty here with me. He is only 4.5 years old—I definitely did not expect an emergency this young, and I feel that I can trust VHA in any future emergencies. The only con really was the price. After all was said and done, we spent over $11,000, which is way way more than I ever thought I’d spend on a cat (even though I do love cats!). Still, I am happy he is here and was able to meet my baby :) So thank you all!!
I understand pets are like family and we freak out when they’re sick or hurt and expect the best care. With that being said I see Lots of reviews claiming they don’t care and just want money. Based off my personal experience with them I do not feel that way. Our baby pup had an accident and suffered some head trauma and was kept overnight along with the some other treatments. I was updated overnight and informed of everything that was going on. I was given an estimate off best case scenario and worst case scenario. So I do feel if they were just out for the money 3 Thousand dollars approved through credit and would’ve been used instead They were very honest and the bill was less than $900. My puppy was in great hands and still alive. Based off my experience I would go back for further needs. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. Sorry for everyone who had a baby that didn’t make it. I don’t think it’s their fault. But we want someone to blame when we’re upset and grieving. Don’t count them out if you’re in an emergency. I loved the clinic from the moment I went inside to do the check in to the time we left! Daniela, the receptionist, is amazing, compassionate and shows that she cares and she does her job with love for the fur babies. The treatment given to my Chihuahua Jumbo was what I loved the most! He has been rejected by other clinics in Highlands County because of his temper, and the staff at Veterinary Healthcare Services received and treated him with compassion and love and work out the way to serve him.1,000% recommended!
I had the pleasure of Dr Willis taking care of my deaf Dalmatian for his neuter. He is a bit of a handful and very apprehensive of strangers. Her team was understanding and compassionate even though my pup was not the best behaved during his visit. He is healing from surgery now and i have Dr Willis’ “chill protocol” ready for his suture removal to make the visit better for everyone involved!
My 9 year old Chihuahua Emily was pretty sick and had to spend a night in the ICU. Everyone was so kind and professional. They allowed me to visit with her and sent me updates on her condition along with some photos and a video to show me she was doing OK. I knew when the overnight vet tech told me she had to feed her a few pieces of food at a time, which is one of her quirks, that she had spent some time with her and didn't just put her in a cage. She is back to her normal self. Thank all of you.
