Everyone here has been absolutely wonderful. Tammy is an asset and cares deeply about the animals that come through. Their free shot clinics have been amazing for our herd of kitties. It does this get enough publicity, but this is a no-kill shelter. ❤️ (Princess Spicy Pants says thank you for her vaccines.)

I will never adopt an animal again. Adopted pit bull mix was told at time if things didn't work that they want you to bring back to shelter. Things didn't work out had some health issues myself along with my mother. I was not able to dedicate the time needed for the animal. Went in to discuss matter with them staff treated me like I was a piece of crap for not being able to take care of animal. This is the second time something like this has happened. It's hard enough to deal with personal problems and they want to make you feel like crap. This dog deserved a better life than I could give it. Staff should be more sensitive to owners needs. Needless to say they gave me paperwork and told me to come back. What I would like to know is the majority of their animals are pit bulls. I don't think the adoption counselor did a good enough job in matching me with the right animal. How would they have handled the situation if this animals behavior was out of control. Would I have been treated differently. All I have to say is anyone who is adopting be clear on what you want and are looking for in a animal. Don't let them guilt you into the first animal they show you. Sometimes circumstances change after adoption. The owner should be treated with respect and dignity. After all they took in an animal they knew nothing about gave it love and then they have to give it up due to unseen circumstances. I'm deeply saddened that it didn't work out. I don't need fingers pointed at me and assumptions made. I hope by writing this the staff will learn and change accordingly. As for now I will not adopt an animal again.

So I was at this animal control place to adopt a pet on Wednesday, but immediately changed my mind once I saw how unprofessional the Danielle lady was. I observed a lady coming in to return her dog and the Danielle lady was nothing sure of rude as she was making fun of the ladies dead cat and how the dog cant be a threat to the family because the cat is already dead. As the lady proceeds to text on her phone minding her own business. The Danielle lady is screaming at her to leave and threatening to press charges. Such an unprofessional lady, I feel bad for any pet that hasn’t already been adopted yet. Any pet that has to share the same building as that miserable lady. I feel bad for them. If you can’t be professional at your job, then reconsider a new place of employment that you can actually do professionally! But judging from your actions, that’s easier said than done.

I offered a trial placement in my home cuz they said hes not good with other dogs and i have dogs claiming he was gonna be euthanized. I got a scam text message immediately after. She said no btw. Now shes asking for $200? Gennesse county animal control deleted my review so theyre all in on it.

Blessed with an opportunity to install some new fencing for their dog runs. Very nice and helpful staff, beautiful facility!

Terribly rude staff. Holds animals for their friends to adopt while promoting a “First come first serve” basis. If you have a specific dog in mind, especially since you have researched it and know the breed is the right one for you, they will push other dogs on you to adopt instead. They do a bare minimum assessment of adopters and whether they are capable of handling the animal. I recommend you check out other shelters and rescues, not Genesee County Animal Control Shelter.
