Everyone here has been absolutely wonderful. Tammy is an asset and cares deeply about the animals that come through. Their free shot clinics have been amazing for our herd of kitties. It does this get enough publicity, but this is a no-kill shelter. ❤️ (Princess Spicy Pants says thank you for her vaccines.)

Blessed with an opportunity to install some new fencing for their dog runs. Very nice and helpful staff, beautiful facility!

Terribly rude staff. Holds animals for their friends to adopt while promoting a “First come first serve” basis. If you have a specific dog in mind, especially since you have researched it and know the breed is the right one for you, they will push other dogs on you to adopt instead. They do a bare minimum assessment of adopters and whether they are capable of handling the animal. I recommend you check out other shelters and rescues, not Genesee County Animal Control Shelter.

First time visitor to this well-maintained, professionally-managed group. Connie was helpful in introducing me to available felines. The staff were friendly, professional, and all deserve our public financial millage support. Thank you, Team GCAC. 😊😼 P.S.: "Sarge" has acclimated well and is quite contentful, I'm grateful to say 🤗.

I don't understand the way things are being ran here. My mom and i went there today and she wanted to go in and look at kittens. First, we tried to call. No answer. Then, after driving 30 minutes and waiting in line for about 10 minutes, we were told they didn't have any kittens. My mom inquired about getting a cat possibly, they said she'd have to fill out adoption paperwork and wait for an available staff member to even show her a cat. You're not allowed to go look and connect with an animal. It reminds me of a saying from Steve Irwin; "When people can experience and be hands on with animals, they want to save them." It seems they're doing more harm than good by having this lack of interaction between the public and their animals. I was raised with pure bred dobes and one of the rules of thumb i remember was to never get a dog from a breeder who doesn't want to show you the conditions the pups are raised in. So i find it odd that the public isn't allowed to see the conditions the animals are living in. It makes me sad because I got my dog here in 2005, after coming in with a friend to visit the pets. I ended up adopting him and had him until he passed in 2021 and I don't know if the loving pet relationship I had with him would have happened if things were ran this way at that time. They seem jaded to the animals and public they're serving.
