Dr Averette is absolutely wonderful. He gets to know you and your pets and takes wonderful care of the animals. I have full confidence in what he says, and appreciate his honesty when it’s hard to share. We have faced some serious health issues for our pets with him, and lost a few of our babies we’ve been with him so long. He has sent us to specialists that were able to help our babies and walk with us through the issue. He’s our vet and our friend!!!

Took my male cat here to get fixed when he was 6 months old. He got fixed and I took him home. Fast forward 2 years later, and my male cat has been having bad behavioral problems. Marking in the house, attacking our female cat, being very territorial. I have since moved to Birmingham, so we took him to a Birmingham vet. They said he wasn’t fixed all the way. He still had one testicle. It hadn’t dropped, so it was still inside of him. It can cause a lot of health and behavioral problems. Today I had to put him into surgery to have it surgically removed. All of this could have been avoided if it was done right the first time! Or if someone had told me I needed to wait longer to get him fixed. Someone needs to tell these people that males tend to have two testicles! So if you only see one when you’re neutering them, there’s probably something not right about it. Do better!

Maybe 10 years ago I would’ve given 5 stars, but Averette isn’t the vet he used to be. My father (who has now passed) used Averette for his two dogs. One was 13 and was actively dying. My mother called to make an appointment because she knew something was wrong and that the dog more than likely needed to be put to sleep. Cam said “Sorry, he doesn’t have an opening until next week.” Fast forward 3 hours later the dog has been seen at another vet here in town and indeed was actively dying and we have now said goodbye. Shame on you Dr. Averette, Cam and the rest of your staff.

Dr. Averette, Cam, and all of the staff have taken care of my fur babies for 20 years. I wouldn’t take my critters anywhere else. It’s a highly skilled vet experience with a family feel.
