Description **OPEN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY** The Humane Society of West Alabama, founded in 1971, is a no-kill, all-volunteer, nonprofit organization. We have no administrative costs, so most of our funds are spent on direct aid for the dogs and cats in our care. We receive no money from any governmental agency or national humane organization. We are totally dependent on donations and fundraisers to continue our work.
Everyone there is so sweet. I got to learn more about the Cat House. They sweep and mop the floors, clean litter boxes, de-shed bedding, do laundry, and pretty much anything you can think of. They do that every day with the help of super kind volunteers. The cats are obviously well cared for. I'm excited for the new house to be built for them!
I only went here to drop off some dog crates today. In the past, this organization helped me out when I had several female kitties all giving birth within weeks of each other. So when the kittens were weaned, they came and took them to adopt them out when they were ready. It was a huge relief to have those animals in a safe environment and not have to try to feed another 12 or 16 mouths right away. It was a stressful time for me. I was so grateful for their help.
Wonderful staff and very clean. A rescue with happy, healthy cats
Very helpful and offer many low income services to community.
